Built and installed side rails along the wheel wells, connecting bumper to sliders to bumper again. They are removable, although the part to the slider is welded to maintain rigidity and the part to the bumpers are bolted to the bumper. I Should have done this well before i had so many dents, but that's life. Will be testing them out this weekend.

Hey Fishie - How'd you route the coax? Between the rubber and the metal, or did you drill a hole in the metal?

Also, what's the SWR? Thanks.

I too am replacing my factory head unit with an X597 and a WX18 this weekend. Also need to move my subwoofer amp somewhere. I'm thinking in the area above and behind the PS rear wheel? Here's what I did today:

Ran my coax from the back up to the DS foot area, waiting on CB install.

I was unaware there were 100's with body damage. Glad to know I'm not alone!

Ha. There are very few. As much as it hurts, it is meant for wheeling and camping. I think most of the 100 population are wheeled in places that are well travelled and somewhat open with good trail widths. Up here in parts of Canada we have a lot of forest, tight overgrown trails used for ATV's and snowmobiles in the winter. We have a pretty sparse population, and especially few wheelers compared to our friends across the border.

I have followed your posts and see you wheel yours as it should. Well done. There are a few 100's on the forum that get wheeled hard, and I"m glad to see the numbers increasing. I've never seen another 100 series this side of the border.

It's between the rubber and metal, still a pretty tight seal. Don't know the SWR cause I haven't installed the CB yet. And on that note...

I screwed up tonight. Was installing my brand new X597 radio and when I was rewiring the amp according to RobRed's blog one of the live wires touched the metal amp, sparking, and then the radio didn't work after that. Don't call me stupid, I already know I am... ALSO before I worked with the amp the radio would power up just the sound wouldn't play through the speakers, thus I assumed that I needed to work with the amp according to RobRed's (chime in please) blog http://tlcfaq.com/main/2012/05/land-cruiser-lx-470-stereo-wiring/

Please help me, I'm afraid I may have done something irreversible. :frown:

Update: It was a blown fuse, the radio powers up but the speakers still don't play. Advice is more than welcome!

Update 2: I'm using a factory amp integration harness, haven't made progress yet but shout out to Mxndrnks for trying to help!

Update 3: plays through the speakers but have interference on DS rear speaker

Before you get too worried. CHeck the fuse in the drivers side kick panel. I did the same thing. I am guessing you just blew the radio fuse. it is a 15 amp. Regarding no sound prior. Yes, Robred's writeup is a good start. I used it and crutchfield, my fsm wiring manual, etc. and all were off some. Crutchfield was way off. RobRed's thread will either get you 100% there or 90%......Some of the wires in Robred/s splicing thread actually had me cutting speaker wires. So, make sure you double check that. On mine, my Passenger Side rear speaker didnt work.... But, I managed to fix it.

I am headed out for date night with the wife. But, If you need help tomorrow, shoot me a pm. I will respond with my cell number and we can talk.

CHeers and good luck.

Just did the whipsaw in ours :steer:

Changed oil, greased drive train, washed the rest of Colorado off of it, finished swapping out front Bilsteins for Fox 2.0, repaired rear trailer harness (engineer pass casualty) as well as found her new "shadow" and some tundra steelies for it!

Starter, valve cover gaskets, heater hose pipe tee-s, fuel filter. About 12 hours of labor but she's back running strong and ready to go.

Finally got the iPhone 4S on iOS 6.1 to work with the AppRadio, instructions on avic411.com, nearly bought the Galaxy S4 coz I couldn't get it working for a while!

Also replaced my turbo recently, and was convinced I should be upgrading the inter cooler to get more power and give the engine a longer life, only problem is I need to buy an off road bumper to relocate the OEM winch :( any suggestions? We have TJM for $2k (no stock) and copies of what looks like an ARB from China for $1k... Would prefer to put a proper unit on the front in Joburg but in the backwaters of Zim we are starved for choice... I haven't seen one cruiser with rock sliders here, I have ordered the right steel for the job 6 months ago but as its so uncommon... It's gonna be a while before I get the 3mm rectangular tube I need :( I am seriously considering a great trek from Salisbury to the goldfields of South Africa...
