If you turn your headlight switch one click they will illuminate. They’re just an “extra DRL”. I’m not really sure what purpose they serve.
On the other side of word, those are called parking lights. People switch on those when parked in the dark areas on the side of the road. Most roads doesn't have street lights.

Replaced alternator and tried to patch a split cv boot with silicone tape. It split 1/3 of the way around right behind the clamp. That silicone tape sticks to itself with a vengeance, so we’ll see. So far it’s held together about 350 highway miles, but I’m going to grab a cv axle spare in SLC - I have my doubts it’ll hold for a week in the San Juans. I thought about grabbing new boots from Cruiser Outfitters, but I think knocking the end off the shaft without a vice would be challenging.

Had a set of Airlift 1000's sitting around so decided to throw them on the '05. I'm running medium springs but with all the weight I've added out back I need heavies but don't want to sacrifice the ride when I'm not on the trail. Going to go this route and if I want a little bit of extra clearance on the nastier trails out in Moab, I'll give them a squirt. I've had these on three of my four cruisers so they install quickly. Always remember to drill a nice big hole with a step bit so you don't pinch or cut your air lines!

New hood seal (53183-60071 - SEAL, HEADLAMP COVER TO HOOD for those who are looking for this like I was) installed to cut down on the hood flutter at highways speeds

Finally got the the Owl Expedition ASAP Flaps installed on the rear (thanks @Ramathorn15 for the great product!). Still need to do the fronts.

Cleaned up a free Rhino X-tray roof basket from a friend and got it mounted and took it on a short trip to AOAA to see how the wind noise is on the highway. Might change up how I have the tracks mounted on there but it gets the GMRS antenna nice and high and will give me some more space for gear when I go on a long trip later this year.

Put together the cheapest tablet mount ever so I can see the trail maps better and keep my phone free for Spotify and pictures (currently waiting on an Ohana Rig Supply Stealth Panel to arrive so I can more cleanly install the tablet mount and radio). It's literally a ball mount screwed to a piece of plywood, wedged between the seat and the center console. It's amazingly stable and puts the tablet in a perfect spot lol

I still need a better solution for the radio handset.

Also installed a Midland MXT275 GMRS radio with a giant filter on the power input that my buddies discovered greatly decreases the whine on transmit that our Toyota ignition systems like to create (not pictured because I'm at my limit but I can find more details if people are curious).

Currently on the lookout for 5x 18" black/machined Tundra wheels so I can upgrade to 275/70R18 KO3s. Might be a while before I pull the trigger on that - I've had zero issues with these Kumho Crugen HTs off road besides not having a ton of ground clearance ... but my wife is insisting that it needs cooler looking tires

edit: oh and I have some @plaidwagon seat backs and glovebox thingies coming in. Didn't wanna miss out on all the fun everybody else is having!

Rebooted in @saucebox garage. All better now.

For those wondering, the silicone tape lasted about 350 highway miles. The boot just continued to split around the transition, and that grease is so light it works out. I repatched it 3 times and squeezed about 1500 miles out of it. There was still half a cup of grease in there when we took it apart.

Don't have time or the cash for window tint right now so I made some insulated covers out of Reflectix today. Tomorrow I'll be making one for the sunroof as well. I got the roll to make covers for some of the windows in my tent trailer but had enough for the windows on the Cruiser as well.

I used this with suction cups while camping. Makes a huge difference in thermal management and blocking out light

Phase 1 ….. get rid of interior lights that wouldn’t attract a lonely moth. Now waiting on sunset to see the difference with the LED upgrade. 😊

The blue painters tape is holding the suction cups for the rear windows on mine, the small ones for back doors seems to be staying in place when tucked into the edges of the window trim. I haven't gotten a chance to drive around with it yet but when test fitting and installing them I could feel an immediate difference in temp when placed into the windows in the back. Hopefully I'll have time to make one for the sunroof today as I can feel the shade panel is quite a bit warmer than the rest of the roof.

amazon/ebay sells suction with bolt on the back. I used these with a few washers and it was very solid solution that has last years

Thanks, I'll give those a try. Drove it a little today, it was low 90's and it seems a little better, definatly better for my kids in the second row. I think I may try and tint my own windows because it feels like I'm getting sunburnt on long trips.

Finally joined the 21st century and swapped out my steel winch cable for a synthetic rope. Sure glad I was able to make the swap without dropping the front bumper.

Terminated the air lines. I always like to leave some decent slack in the lines.

Now I'm curious which spot the RAM turned around and you just passed through :)
We ran north to south, it was the first sort of steep areas with rocks. He was worried about the scrape marks on the rock, but looked to me like approach/descent angle scrapes...

I took the safest of the three lines first (far left heading south), turned around, came up the steepest part with all the scrape marks (the one my wife didn't get on camera, the center line), then turned around at the top to take the far right line as well. Looking at the GPS location on the video, this may have even been past where he backed out. It was fun either way.

Just noticed my wife's comments on the video... She was not thrilled with the trail 😂. I think any future offroading like this will probably just be me and my boys.

I'm assuming that you are running lift coils out back. Do you happen to remember what model of airlift bag you purchased for those springs?
And a side question, which springs are you running...860's? 863's?
860's. Air Lift 1000 Kit 60728
