Put some Marvel's Mystery oil in the oil and see if it quiets down faster...if so it's probably a sticky lifter.
What lifter are you talkin about? :hmm:

Valve train
although after looking at them, they don't look like conventional hydraulic lifters.
I worked at a garage during my high school days.
Marvel Mystery oil was the go-to fix for sticky lifters.
And Bars Leaks for leaking radiators when the customer didn't want to send it to a radiator shop.

Just an old man who finally got a landcruiser, yeah 60 feels old and I have jumped in to a project that will probably take me to the finish line even though it already has 280k on the clock. It's a one owner 2005 4.7L. I am not very good with tech and prefer hand tools over the keyboard but thought I'd mention how I got here.
I am another newbie who was looking for the right side quarter panel wheel well liner. I now know there never was one.....but I think I may have found a solution. My 2004 ford explorer is still here so I looked and sure enough there is a sheild on the passenger side since that's the side the gas filler is on. I pulled it out and a quick test fit in the rain looks like I can make it work. I will update if my hack works, I apologize in advance for mixing brands but I have old school autobidy experience from back in the awesome days of lacquer paints and primers so I learned to improvise and make things work. It seems as though I may be able to make the ford liner work in the 05 LC, if it is presentable I will see if I can post pictures for those who may be interested. Just a little outside the box thinking may be what you need.
Somehow I bet I put this introduction in the wrong place, oh well hopefully you get a laugh watching me fumble my way through life.
Ed, it my name not my condition

Very nice! Welcome to MUD!! It's the right place as you were messing with that this week!

Opps I said left side liner and meant right, boy do I missed lacquer, always got my mind in gear for work.
*Fixed it.

I get it, but what Toyota engine were you referring to? Most Toyota engines that I have worked on either have adjustable rockers or shim buckets.

Was going to do brakes and rotors last weekend as there was a noticeable pulsation when brakes applied, but got too busy and decided to push it a week. Call from the Wife Wednesday that the truck was making a grinding noise....

... forced to do it yesterday. One could say I got the maximum use out of the pads and rotors (51,000 miles).

Bearings looked really good, but it took 90 lb-ft to get a decent break away force. I went with Powerstop Evolution Geomet coated rotors and their Z36 severe duty pads.

Train brakes? The pads looked evenly worn.

I’m sure there are dozens of threads on this… but has anyone, successfully, installed a manual knob style A/C control unit from an older 100 into a newer model 100… in order to install an aftermarket head unit?

Replaced driver/passenger front: UCA, LCA, sway bar links/bushings, inner/outer tie rods w/ bellows, upper and lower control arms (with frame bushings), motor mounts, transmission mount, all rear lateral/control arm bushings and sway bar bushings/link, all brake pads.
Also replaced my belt tensioner and idler pulley. And my alternator and battery for the 4th time in the last two years.

there is an entire thread on here about just that very thing.

I would like to explore doing this as well, but will probably just install a GROM V-Line bluetooth adapter.
