I run 37's and have run 38's on my 40 with just 4" skyjacker lift springs.

Not super flexy, but I've done a lot of hard wheelin on the setup and had a lot of fun with it.

Flip front and rear springs, trim up front fenders and open the rear fenders to the top of the wheel wells and wide them to accomodate the new rear axle position and you're golden.

It actually has one but my wife is the type of person who .....well you'd see her driving down the highway with a boken extension cord draggin down the road.;)

While we're on the subject I was thinking of doing kind of a "lower forty" build on this one with 37 of 38's. I know I saw somebody do a lot of body cutting to keep a low center with big tires. I searched all over but couldnt find it. Anyone have any ideas?

uuummm....that could be me, i got no lift but im just running 35's on my bush truck, its not done yet though

that it? thats not me in the pic, but my truck. 60 rears in the back and just cut my rear end up to fit the tires...will do 60 springs up front as well

Nice set up...I remember seeing yours too and even though its not the one I was thinking about it is exactly the look I'm going for. Have you tested out your front fenders yet? The other guy had to cut his aprons down, looks like you're probably going to need to also.
Thanks for the pic.

Haven't done too much on the 40 lately, started a new business which pretty much takes up all of my time but Im hoping to finish it up soon.

Anyway since I last posted I got quite a bit done:

-POR-15'd the frame
-Two new thirds, open 4.88's from justdifferentials
-Rebuilt the front calipers
-Replaced all rear wheel cylinders and hdwr.
-New Rotors/Drums
-All new seals and bearings in front and rear axles
-Two new poly performance axles in rear
-New Warn manual hubs
-All new brake lines
*SOR's new kit saved me hours of labor and fit great.
-Got the tub and body parts sand blasted

So now I've got some body work and paint and its on to reassembly. Shouldnt take more than a few......years.

That SOR brake line kit is is well worth it- i ordered one for my 67 and it went on with just a few minor bend adjustments-

Off topic: LOVE the 350x in the background! Took my cousin's for a spin back in the day and I didn't make it 10 feet before I had it right over backwards. That's a classic.

Hijack over.

Progress...

Managed to find time to get some painting and assembly done.

PPG Epoxy Prime
Olive 653 Single Stage

Now Im throwing parts back on it with reckless abandon, knowing I should be doing some things that Im not in the interest of getting it done. Is it easier to paint my brake booster now? Sure....but Ill do it another weekend after I'm driving it. :steer:

Do what I do buy parts and vehicles and hide them at your buddy's house , just take him and his wife out out ever 6 months lol

...or what my buddy did. Acreage in rolling hills. He and his wife have an understanding. He can collect all he wants as long as it's on the other side of the hill where she doesn't have to see it!
