What kind/brand/size welding machine are you using to secure 3/4" steel to .250" plate?

Yeah, that one bothered me a little too. I contemplated using an Arc welder, but ended up with a MIG. I've got a Lincoln Power MIG 255C. I beveled both sides of the 3/4 inch plates and turned the voltage and wire speed way up. There was slight warping on the 1/4 inch plates, but it will be pulled straight with the bolts. (the next one will be made with 3/8" inch)

It looks like you positioned the spare so it won't stick out beyond the drivers side of the body. Good thinking.

I want to see the basket as well. few pins out of the long tube on the bottom or bolts and the Hi-Lift could hide there as well... I'll buy one of those

Should be able to post basket mock-up shots tomorrow. The high-lift has me stumped though. I'll also try to work up a cost on the materials and labor for kicks and grins

First let me say that if you did NOTHING but paint or PC the thing, it looks great. If you're gonna do the hi lift.... putting it where you don't have to take the spare off is a plus! ...lol...

I like this one, but I'm thinking of threading it behind the angled tube coming off the tire mount. I would need to weld in some threaded inserts.....

looks nice enough to me if you don't mind loosing rearward vision. it also looks like your shackles are angled in toward the axle instead of out. i hope it is due to the lack of weight on the springs as that angle would ride rough or cause probs later on.

Strong to quite strong. I will be over tomorrow to brainstorm witcha on the high lift and the basket. it looks pretty damn sweet already if we stuck it all together and PC'd it!
It should clear everything. We measured it up on my cruiser that is actually in one piece......... that is until next year when i am done with my house and Jim is done learning on the cruiser in the pic how to do it all!!!!

The lower portion is pretty stout with 1/4" wall on 2.5 inch square tube, but the upper portion is quite lite with 1.75x .120 wall DOM and 1x .065 wall HREW for the basket.

will there be a landcruiser attached to the tire carrier at some point? if so, are you sure all this fine work you are doing will mate up and/or clear the body panels? LC

oh yeah, its my 77 40 that its going to be attached to. We measured it up with that one first. The one in the pictures was just a frame when we started the whole thing. Here is a pic of the front bumper he made for me(other views availible on the Ih8mud page). Cirbo you are the man!
