Red letter day for the old "Toygoata". Thanks to Pin_Head's carb rebuild video on YouTube I successfully completed my first carb rebuild this morning. mind you it has been going on for about a week. This thing was so gummed up I had to keep soaking and blowing (yeah I said it) and prodding and poking the gummy crud out of this thing but it finally paid off. I destroyed the power piston getting it out. Luckily ToyotaEast had one for $6.40. Starts right up and runs smooth. Drove it for the first time around the block. Now that it moves I need to work on the brakes to get it to stop. Thanks again Pin_Head, I couldn't have done it without your help. While I had the intake and exhaust manifolds off I desmogged the beast. Here's some before and after pics of the carb.

Ugg. There's not a guy on Mud that wouldn't want to be in your shoes. This is probably the best LandCruiser yard/barn find ever.

I spotted this one while on vacation last year (Edit: It's NOT in Oklahoma ). If it's still there next summer I'm going to try to find an owner.

The old "Toygoata" runs great as long as it is getting fuel. Line from tank to filter would plug with a black tar looking substance (old dinosaur blood I assume). Yesterday I decided to take the next big step in this project and yank out the gas tank to clean it. This will also give me chance to clean the pack rat nest out from around it and under the seat, and to make a plan for the floor repairs. Only broke 1 bolt. Also replaced front brake calipers that were frozen and put a new fuel pump on for good measure. For some reason the rats really loved the wires off the fan switch. Replaced those and disassembled the fan motor, cleaned it up and it works like a champ.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you've got aftermarket or early front turn signals installed on that thing. Long as you're shopping. . .
