would you build a BJ42

OK well I traded my FJ60 truggy for BJ42 and my plan was to make my 76FJ40 in to a wheeler and the BJ onto a DD like it sits but BOTH need work ... my kids are to small for hard core .... well my idea of hard core , and I have come to the realization I cant afford both ... ok really all three cause I have a Veeate FJ60 too ...anyway I wondered . the BJ is WAY cooler Alum 3/4 tub fenders and bib ... and well its a BJ so would you SOA lock and wheel a BJ42 or sell it and build the Veeate 76 into a wheeler .... or realy go soft core and wheel the 76 like it sits and make a 5 yr build of both.. errr all three

I have the Parts to do SOA with FJ60 Axles, SR and ARB's but still need bigger gears and tires.. doubler .... and either and all need to be drivable to and from the trail

Do you want to drive the 42 after building it? Those things will barely do highway speeds stock. I can't imagine trying to turn 35's or larger.

Sell the 60 and build the 40's.

Camper light wheeler 35's, 488's, Turbo .... it'll drive nice I would think ...I would drive it were ever and camp wheel crawl Cruisers go any place ...just not anyplace fast

Why not do a light build with the BJ, (SUA, 33's, lockers) sounds like that would fit your family's wheeling style, that what I'm doing with mine and the kids love it. I can drive on the highway but like you said, can go anywhere, just no where fast. I wouldn't do anything that wasn't easily reversible back to stock like condition on that BJ (ie cut fenders, SOA...) but it does have an aftermarket tub so it will never be "original"

when I first started to look at cruisers I was dead set on the BJ, I was talked out of, and an FJ instead, I love my FJ, but I still think I would rather have the BJ, as a DD, you cant beat the economy of diesel mpg. Oh yeah and that little bitty thing of Toyota reliability.

I have car ADD and cant keep one project goin to the end I hoop around from car to car I guess I'll just keep buildin them all slowly.... and keep the BJ stockish ... I love my 60 to wheel it too hard ... the 76 is primed for rollin

Have you ever driven a BJ? Believe me they will do highway speeds no problem, my BJ62, with 31's could do 70 all day long and would get about 24 mpg at that speed. It was turbo'd with my own system for under $1000 and had the stock 4:11's.
My BJ40 can do 65 no problem and it is not turbo'd.
