would these work as fake split rims?

Looks like an OK wheel. But for the money, IIRC there is a genuine steel wheel available from the dealer for FJ80 or taco truck that will fit FJ40.

Doesn't look like a splittie to me, just looks like a wheel?

Why would you spend a penny on a fake anything?

Mark...

Because I would like to run a wheel that looks somewhat original but can handle a bigger tire. Unfortunately tall and skinny tire sizes are hard to find.

How tall and how skinny?

So what you actually mean is that you want a "stock-ish" looking rim in a 16 inch size so that you can run 16 inch tires and have access to taller street type tires. The whole "fake split rim" bit threw me off.

I have run 16 inch wheels with 4 inch backspacing on '40s and cleared the TRE with no problem. The extra diameter compared to the 15 inch wheel makes the difference.

Make sure that the center hole s large enough to clear the Toyota hub. Some of the old Chevy 16 inch rims will not fit a Toyota.

Clips

Do you think it would be possible to add clips to these?

Thanks Mark. Good info about the back spacing.

Agree the center hole is likely a problem.

Someone looking for real split rims...... I have a set of 5.
