Oh I'm quite sure they are crap. PO never said a word about the brakes being part of what his garage did so I tend to feel they are just on the list. And I just opened up the front diff to drain out the oil I put in per @Cruiserdrew's recommendation and its the same watery puke color. Granted we drove through ALOT of water today, like holy s*** water at that... I priced calipers on Napa's website and they are up there. Rockauto would be less but a longer wait. I want to have everything in hand when I crack those lug nuts. Another rob from Peter to pay Paul situation.
But again, I gotta say I am thoroughly impressed at what I drove and what my truck did today. Shaking my head wowed. I got a "NICE RIG" after the first hard hill climb in snow, ruts and rocks and she fishtailed and bounced up like nothing. Granted she's got a wise female driver behind the wheel. ;) And another guy, grinned when he remarked "Not even a dent!"
Lots of mud... nothing broken, the rear tailpipe hanger got tweaked sideways a tad but that's it. Totally awesome. I know @Russ4Ru will post up photos in the next few days. Poor guy had to stare at this all day...

Cheap gear oil is your friend right now.

Good luck with the front end rebuild. It's a rite of passage.

I bought a mega bucket from Advance Auto... $54 for something like 3, maybe 5 gallons.

So here’s one of like three lengthy water rides. Ignore my pissing and moaning about the guy in front of me... And yeah I should have hung back so seeing what was ahead would have been more exciting.

******* northeast wherever you go there is traffic ;)

To your earlier point I was also very pleasantly surprised at how capable a 60 is. For me these things will always be more capable than their driver if I am behind the wheel and there is some security in that. When I went to Pismo last year I was also surprised by how much difference it will make to air down a few extra psi. I was at 16 and kept getting stuck. Went down to 12 and no more problems, the guys who had been to pismo many times said the sand was softer and deeper than they had experienced before so more air removed was the ticket.

Good job getting out there and having some fun with it instead of more garage time!

Now at the beginning of the vid someone mentions a 50% off sale?:D

I got something similar from Napa. When you get a few more $$, you can buy a lid hat has a manual pump on it and a perfect curved tube that helps fill up the diffs and transfer case

@erse my friend was talking about socks. Did you hear me tell her ‘you don’t have to talk about socks now.’ Laughing, I sounded like such a snarky bitch.
Yeah one of the guys helped me air down w/ a really nifty gauge tool to 15. I was a tad nervous cuz my tires are old and have some gouges in the sidewalls but they did great. Really glad I hadn’t swapped to the 31s as well! Man four inches less and that would have been not nearly as easy.
The hardest part was a steep hill. The 3 or so times I went down it I could not get myself to get my foot off the clutch and brake. Our trail leader teased me later about it. Every other part I could but not going down that freaking hill!

I think when the conversation has dwindled all the way down to socks it's ok to put a stop to ito_O

Curious what’s the size of the tubing on the barium bags? I’ve got access to bolus feed bags at work but the tubing is tiny. Suppose I could cut and add a 1/2” line w/ gorilla tape.

My guess is 1/2” id. Just gotta cut the pooper tip off behind the retaining balloon. They hold something like 2liters of fluid.

Was a good hearing and feeling all the wheels gripping the snowy gravel.
Why is it that getting out of 4h I have to push on the stick while goosing the truck in reverse a bit?
Friend of mine walked me thru that ages ago and glad I remembered cuz I had to do it again today. He said it had something to do w/ the gears and the way they spin?
Pretty common on 60 series. It unbinds the load on your drivetrain. I did that a bunch

She was shopping in between me driving. It was a tad annoying but other than that I was glad to have a passenger.

She was shopping.......

There is a cliche here. Not sure what, but you need different additional off-road friends. If you tell her to get out and stack some rocks, and she shops for socks, you see the obvious problem.

Waiting for the front end rebuild. It gets messy. Kind of like your barium enema referenced here. Good luck! Pic coming...

Eh. She’s a real girly girl. I was happy for her presence. Funny you mention stacking rocks. We came to a hill w/ a large face of rock. It wasn’t nearly as dug out as the first time I’d been there 6 years before. One guy said he’d try but one spot looked pretty tricky. I walked up and started scouting for rocks so he wouldn’t get so stuffed (he was gonna go up where the large root jutted out). But the first few I dropped rolled away and stepping into the area I knew I’d slide. The guy decided to try it another time.
So tho she and I are very different, it’s okay she was shopping for rocks cuz she shut it when I told her to. Also I’ve not watched but for the last 4 years she and her bf every few days go rock climbing which you won’t catch me ever doing.

@Cruiserdrew, That pix is cool, seeing everything laid out. Feel up for tweaking that pix with labels? As I’ve said previously, I’m a visual learning so any and all pixs I eat up. Keep them coming! I need to pull up the diagrams... here I am dawdling at the desktop when that is why I initially sat down.

This gives me a good chuckle "Pooper Tip"... I am a child at heart. I'll try to remember today to snag a bolus feed bag. The tubing is much smaller but I might be able to snake a 1/2 over the reservoir close to the bag. I'm all for "free" supplies.

Collecting parts and tools. Almost all set. Roofer was supposed to do my rear roof but he ditched cuz weather was wet and cold this AM. I told him I’d hold off on the knuckle job and brakes all around but he blew the opportunity cuz the day cleared and was fairly comfy at 47 degrees and sunny by 11am. So I cleaned the garage and organized and lubed the girl in prep for cracking nuts.

If I wasn’t meeting someone for dinner soon I’d be at it already. Gonna start tmrw.

Cleaned the steelies and had two tires installed and balanced. Used coco cola and aluminum foil and a bit of 00 steel wool. Guy at the shop gave me a ‘you did good on those rims!’
I chuckled at a label on a file behind him, it said ‘work in progress.’
Also, whatever they use to install and check for leaks left a residue that I need to clean off but regardless aren’t they purdy?!
