This is why we chose to put the intake forward.
If there was enough interest we could put together a kit for those that want to move away from how WE routed the intake. Silicone, clamps, maf extension harness, tubing. Make it a bit easier.

What did you smoke on the intake?
I ran a smoke generator through the brake booster vacuum line…
Found several tiny leaks

As it turns out…much as you had suspected my cats lacked the flow to make the expected boost…now making healthy boost and it’s glorious.
Thanks for your insight
We've been through this a multiple times recently with in house and DIY installs. "I am not building full boost only like 3-4 PSI..."

"Ok disconnect the vband at the exhaust side (not at the turbo lol), separate the downpipe from the exhaust by at least an inch to let it breath, also disconnect the front O2 and go drive it..."

Every time it finds all the boost once it can exhale those exhaust gasses. Glad you are making healthy boost!

Extra perk —the sound of the engine + turbo straight out of the downpipe is pretty cool. All bark, no bite 😂

Can't wait to see how this turns out. After doing a 7500 mile trip to prudhoe bay and back and watching the AFR for a lot of different grades, speeds, elevations, etc. I'm not convinced relying on the stock ecu is cutting it...
I'm not super stoked on the turbo system as a whole at this point with the additional headaches its caused, but they are largely related to engine management under load, and honestly the thing needs an intercooler even in its stock form. IATs get screaming due to how much heatsoak this produces, even with blankets.
Not to mention the downpipe blanket can't be had anymore, unless you buy min 10 at $600 each or something insane that they quoted for a replacement. Mines got downpipe wrap on it now, but that stuff just is going to make it rust out and then be SOL or fab a new one.

Do you have an IAT gauge post turbo or relying on the MAF IAT

Exactly…part of the reason I’m doing this is two fold…1. protect the engine and give it the fueling and timing it needs, 2 make consistent power by unlocking what the turbo is capable of…
I’m hoping with my combo of parts and discussion with fellow muddets and turbo guys this should give me what I’m looking for.

I have an IAT post turbo in the end of the intake plenum opposite the throttle body. I drilled and tapped the manifold. I also have methanol injection and it really drops the IAT when the methanol pump kicks on. As the boost builds IAT will hit 140 to 150 F, then fall to less than 100 with the methanol injection. Makes things a little safer at 10 psi boost. I am far happier with the turbo system after swapping to the 8 speed transmission. It stays in the boost after shifts and pulls like crazy.

@Cruisers and Co have you guys had anyone successfully use one of your intercooler kits with the wits end setup?

Looking at mine, and I don’t think the turbo will clear the stock air box if I clock it down.

I might be interested in this if you get any interest. Still curious if the turbo could be clocked and clear the stock air box though.
