Have you seen the price of gold and the Stock Market. A lot of wealthy investors will park money into their car collections. I would think many investors are reluctant to pull money and invest in their collections now. I believe most all values are down right now regardless of make and model. I see it in other markets too, not just in collectable vehicles.
One of my customers is a very experienced car buyer, both at a dealership as well as for his personal collections, the entire collector car market is soft right now, except for the very top tier that have relevance. There have been some outliers, the BaT 77 that went for $110k earlier this year was one.

I hope you have shopped that insurance multiple times in those 27 years. And by multiple, I mean 13 or 14 times. Insurance companies love people that don't force them to be competitive.
For the longest time my insurance co was always the cheapest i found on rates. I will be shopping around aggressively now that thats not the case anymore. It was the Hartford. The one thing I always liked was their customer service is excellent and they use real Americans instead of farming out to India. Nothing against Indians but i can never understand the accent.

Anyone recommend an auto insurance company for someone with multiple vehicles (5 total, two full coverage and three are collision only) ?

Valid points- however, was never built to sell. But now that it’s done, would like to let someone else enjoy. Hoping to prove you wrong on a future sale. As always i’ll post the nitty gritty details when it does.

It would take a few weeks and very few parts to return this one to a stock configuration, It’s almost both a resto and a restomod/enthusiast build.

Also challenge you to get a $75k truck in front of McKeel Hagerty and have him comment that he’s never seen anyone take a Toyota to this level. It’s not for everyone but to the right buyer they’ll appreciate all the nuances that it has and pay a lot higher than $80k.

Thanks for not biting my head off. Despite my tongue-in-cheek comment in an earlier post, I do hope you'll find the right buyer that can appreciate your tremendous effort.

No point in getting salty, Mud is a great place for a healthy discussion.

I left Hagerty when my rate went up double compared to 2 yrs earlier… never had any claims. I tried JC Taylor, Grundy and settled on American Collector. All of them quoted stated value. Be sure you are aware of their restrictions like, mileage or type of use.

That being said, there is still a market for high end builds. I think maybe the market has become more savvy about the quality of the builds - Just watching the sales on BAT one sold for $80k so there are still people out there willing to spend the money. Made me feel a little better knowing how much it cost to do my build 😬
There was a Proffitt's built 1978 FJ40 with an LS1/4L60/Orion T-case that was beautiful just the other day on BAT. The 6 page invoice from Proffitt's (from several years ago) wasn't far from $50K and there was a receipt for a truly nice custom interior for $16.6K. I was surprised it hit reserve, because the selling price was only $60K.

To me, this was an exceptionally well done and capable FJ40, and it sold for tens of thousands less than you could build one for today.
