I have a new set of 5 35x12.50x15 BFG KM2's on a set of steel rims with DIY beadlocks.

I also have a set of 4 75% tread 38x13x16 Super Swamper TSL's bias ply on steel rims.

My question is, if you had to choose which tires would you keep?

My rig is a SOA FJ40 with plenty of axle and steering upgrades to handle either tire. I also have a SBC in it with the stock tranny.

Or would you keep both and use the radials for everyday all-around and save the TSL's for that rare hardcore run?

it this going to be your ..

DD?

sounds like the 38's might serve you better.

Although i run 315's(35+).

I would need to get $600 for the TSL's.

I may just keep both and try them each out a bit and decide from there. I am heavily leaning too the KM2's. I think they look cleaner and would ride better on the hwy. Plus I keep being told that a SOA 40 flexes so much that 35's are plenty for the east coast.

I have 33" KM2's without top. i do not hear anything coming from the tires. Very quiet.

I'd keep the KM2s and sell the Swampers. The KM2s will ride better on road and are nicely agressive offroad as well. With the beadlocks, you'll be able to air down lower. I had some 36" TSL SXs on my FJ40 (not on beadlocks), and couldn't air them down enough. At 8 psi they still looked fully aired up.

Regardless, it boils down to your future goals and desires. If you're gonna hit the harder trails, you may really want your swampers 2% of the time, but if it's a DD/wheeler, you'll be glad you have the KM2s on it.

Thanks, I really like the beadlocks too. If I got rid of the KM2's the beadlocks would definately stay. I have listed the tires for sale and will not sweat it if they don't sell. I will go ahead and finish my rig planning on running the 35's and if i end up with the TSL's too, I will just run both according to my mood.

I hope the beadlocks don't leak. They are a PITA to tear back down. I mounted one and was wore out.

i hope you have power tools???
they are a huge pita

I used the 3/8" air wrence for the first tire. I also have a small battery powered impact drill that I will use on the other ones. It's seems to be a little more gentle, and not as loud and cumbersome.

It just seems like you can keep tightening these things down until the 2 rings touch each other, but I guess you have to stop sometime, and make sure all the bolts are tight and move on.
