If you use the "big" Wix, should you add more oil than the specified capacity? The stock amount of oil is 8.5 quarts, how much more should you add?

Zack

If only there were some device on the engine that allowed you to check and see if the proper amount of oil is in the pan. :bang:

If it takes this much work to pick my oil, how will I find the time to become a rocket surgeon? :flamingo:

Yes I know.....I was just wondering if there was a simple answer like : dump 9 quarts in and walk away. But yes I will use the dipstick thanks.

I went by SOR today to try n buy what they had of the 15600-41010 and they're out, too. Only the made-in-Thailand flavor...

I've been using the Rotella 5w-40, which has ZDDP around 1250 last I heard. Is it better to switch over to the Delo LE for the the higher ZDDP, or does the synthetic oil make up for some of the lower ZDDP level?

Do you have a picture of this filter on your 60? I am wondering how much clearance there is.

Zack

Just got them today. Maybe someone else has a picture...?

With the stock 2F filter mounting it really does not matter what length the filter is. AND, when the motor is cool and all the oil is in the pan, the big filter will not matter.

Stop obsessing about this..

I use the Cat oil designed for their Off-Road Heavy Equipment and it is the same as shown above. It is the old formula and is good for flat tappet motors with a good amount of additives. The Cat On-Road oil is the new formula.

My buddy runs Quinn Power Systems here in SoCal, so I buy it there.

Doug,

The Sun Valley store has the HDEO off-road stuff ?

Doug,
Is it still stock number 248-7518 for the older SL ?

Just looked up the MSDS for the CAT DEO (248-7518) 15w-40 SL and it's got a zinc conc of 1400-1500 PPM ...

Looks like it's made by Exxon/Mobil ...

Yes, same part number. I picked 12 gals recently and the jugs have that same part number and API ratings label.
