Do you have a picture of this filter on your 60? I am wondering how much clearance there is.

Just did some checking and looks like the NAPA Gold cross reference for the WIX #51773 2qt filter is #1773. Anyone out there able to confirm? Just want for reference for the next oil change (which honestly won't be until after the new year, figure a 6 month OCI regardless of mileage (doubt I will hit more than 5k) is ok.

Are there any drawbacks to moving to a 2qt filter? I read on an RV forum they were suggesting that you add an extra qt. if you move to the 2qt filter. Is that safe?

Man, Cruiser owners are so cheap, they expect change on a penny...

Sure, have you looked at mileage this dino has?
You spend all your money on gas!

I've always been told...Longer with more girth is better!

No, Diesel was a dirty grey/black/tan dog, so named because he was more or less the color of a cold start soot cloud.

Black dog is Reilly.

And he thinks the best lubricant is bacon grease. Maybe w/ ZDDP additive.

LOL!

Me too! No wonder the wife calls me dawg breath!

I noticed on my FJ62 that the oil filter is the exact same filter as a small block ford, pn and all (fram PH8A old style filter). Saved me some money in regards to the filters between my mach and my cruiser!

PH8A fram is not a very good filter.

It's the same as a chevy small block too...

SBC has a different thread boss size (13/16).

FWIW, Ford was the first to mass-market with a disposable canister filter, which is why it is the world standard in use on Toyota, Nissan, Audi, VW, porsche, Volvo, etc....

Must be why I have a ferd motor in my cruiser. Because the Chevy motors use the wrong filter ;)

i didnt mean to imply that i use fram filters! theyre just the easiest numbers for cross referencing! i only use them for target practice. theyre barely even good at that. its napa gold (wix) and baldwin for gunga din and all my other vehicles.

It seems the Castrol 20w-50 is the most popular oil for the 2F on this site. I wrote an email to Castrol this weekend and asked for their recommendation on the 2F.
Here is their response and falls in line with many of the thoughts posted in this thread.
(ZDDP is critical for the cams and lifters)

At $9-10 a qt there are better choices out there, I think, anyway...

:meh:
