I cannot for the life of me find the part numbers for the 3 drive belts on my FZJ80. Can someone post the number for the dual v belts as well as the AC belt?

90% of people will tell you to use the Toyota belts which aren't cogged.

Do you take off the alternator idler pulley to reduce noise when using a cogged belt?

The idler is there for a reason........

Reduces belt slap.

But you can run without it if you're a douche.

I like them because I swore I screwed something up when I got my 80 forever ago & swappped belts because that's part of SOP for new-to-me used cars.

Went from OE to Napa cogged, it sounded different & wrong.

The next day I called this fella at some dealership in NM.......Dan or something like that ;).

Started feeding his dogs & buying his Keystones for a good decade or so.

Maybe,,, mine has cogged belts and the idler, don't mind the slight hum. When the idler dies, often don't replace, so can run whatever belt without noise. With good idlers, just run belts that are smooth in the inside. In our experience, aftermarket belts have longer life, are more reliable, but have installed dealer belts when that is the preference. Pick your poison. :meh:

Get them from Wits' End, as much for packaging and support as for quality product:

80 Series 1FZ Complete Belt Kit

Edit: there are several great vendors on 'Mud. I've been working with Wits' End on a few specific issues, I've also had great experience with @beno - who can source any Toyota part if it's out there ; )

yes, the single belt is AC. the matched belts are for the alt, crank & water pump. Read Benos old installation guide, changing belts in 25 mins i think it was called.

Running the Gates (not cogged) with no ill effects, I think they are actually better than the OEM, but OEM is safe and cheap.
