I drive my 80 quite often, say 500-600 miles a month. It’s think it’s the perfect vehicle other than mpg. Everyone’s always saying how slow their 80s are which I don’t really agree with. They’re obviously not fast but how fast are y’all trying to go?? I’ve desired passing power and maybe some more grunt on steep hills but for the most part I can accelerate/cruise just as i need without really wringing it out. I split the rest of my driving time between a Subaru Outback 3.6 and some seasonal summer cars, all of which are faster than the 80 but the performance of the 1fz feels just right for the platform. I’m also a speed limit guy maybe straying +/-5mph. Im on 33s, a 2.5in lift and stock gearing. But I would LOVE to LS swap eventually.

definitly miss my e46 M3, got killed by an old lady in an intersection. Insurance covered me for 32K so it wasn't too bad.

Still, i am happy with my E30 4-dr which has about 230K on it. Relagated to cool summer days driving. With that said, i'm gonna hear from this but my DD is a Jeep :D

If you don't mind posting, how much did you pay for the mini-bucket? I've been eyeing one for a camper project (just what I need, lol), but prices seem to be crazy for everything, not just cruisers. Sold the pickup in my avatar photo for $1500 :bang:

Hey aren't you a RS member? Thumbnail looks familiar.....

I got this from another local club member for $5,500. It's close to 300k but interior is in great shape, full maintenance records, rebuilt engine and trans. Some minor rust to deal with but only on the body, frame is solid. Everything works just minor issues with a 30 year old vehicle.

I've seen some people posting mini trucks for insane prices lately.

I was told I can only sell it to another club member in the future at the same price unless I do work to it and want to recovery some of the cost.

Haha, yes, I'm on RS. I'll take that off your hands for $5500 any day  I've actually been there too. A member will give you a good hookup with the stipulation that you must pay it forward whenever you sell.

When I'm not driving the LX450 I drive a 2021 Polestar 2 EV.
Tell me more about the Polestar! I was surprised how many I started to see when they initially released but haven’t seen many since. the new design/styling of Volvos are some of thee best looking cars imo

Loving everyone’s collections! I don’t discriminate any automakers and can appreciate most cars, especially the well kept ones! I’m especially envious of yous with multiple cruisers! I’m always on the hunt for another but not ready to jump just yet.

An old Schwinn.

Two Subarus that I drive once in a while. Mostly for: "Hey mrs surfpig, how long has that Check Engine Light been on?"

:bang:

I DD my 2006 Tundra access cab, it makes a much better daily them my fully built 80 on 39s.
Super clean 4x4 and only 120k miles scored it for a song just before The pandemic and prices went through the roof

I should start off by saying I was very hesitant to get an EV, but my wife really pushed the issue. We've been driving various BMW 3 series sedans for the past 9 years, the latest was a 2018 340 (I6/twin turbo) that I REALLY didn't want to get rid of. I loved that car. It was a blast.
Anyway, we started test driving different EVs, and the Polestar2 was the only one that was a real car as opposed to a child's toy. We both seriously HATED the Tesla 3 as soon as we sat in it, and it handled so poorly when thrown into curves. The cabin noise was ridiculous and the lack of a dashboard keeps your eyes off the road. Not a "driver's car".

We liked the Volvo XC Recharge, but couldn't really spring for another SUV type. That's what the LX450 is for.
As soon as we drove the Polestar, I knew we would buy it. It is awesome. Faster 0-60 than the BMW and the instant 4WD torque has me addicted. It'll snap your head back at any speed if you stomp it.
Very solid build, very quiet ride, and I can toss it around into corners like the bitch that she is. It has a real dashboard that you can switch to navigation/dash combo with a button push.
The range greatly depends on who's driving it ;)

1st generation, so there are some software issues, but it's silly stuff. The dealer had to re-flash the software after a few months and it's fine.

I installed a WallBox charger in my garage and plug it in about once a week or so.

Thanks! I’m sure 340 would be a tough car to replace with anything, let alone with limited EV options. I don’t think I’m ready for an EV just yet but I would definitely look into the polestars before the Tesla. Unless I had Taycan money 👀

Just for the record, we have a Tesla Model 3 dual motor. It is my wife's daily driver and our car for long road trips where we don't take the dog. I was a skeptic going in, but that car has won me over. We've only had it since this past August, and I'm incredibly picky when it comes to cars and design. I was all ready to hate it, but the seats are about the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. Once you get used to the display, it's completely fine. The car is comfortable and quiet and extremely fast and really well designed/engineered. And what really won me over was the Tesla Super Charging network. I didn't understand how quick they really were and they're so strategically located, it's genius. We leased the car for 3 years, figuring that the EV space is going to be quickly evolving and 3 years from now, who knows what we should be driving, but for now, I'm super happy with this choice.
