I drive my 80 quite often, say 500-600 miles a month. It’s think it’s the perfect vehicle other than mpg. Everyone’s always saying how slow their 80s are which I don’t really agree with. They’re obviously not fast but how fast are y’all trying to go?? I’ve desired passing power and maybe some more grunt on steep hills but for the most part I can accelerate/cruise just as i need without really wringing it out. I split the rest of my driving time between a Subaru Outback 3.6 and some seasonal summer cars, all of which are faster than the 80 but the performance of the 1fz feels just right for the platform. I’m also a speed limit guy maybe straying +/-5mph. Im on 33s, a 2.5in lift and stock gearing. But I would LOVE to LS swap eventually.

Just for the record, we have a Tesla Model 3 dual motor. It is my wife's daily driver and our car for long road trips where we don't take the dog. I was a skeptic going in, but that car has won me over. We've only had it since this past August, and I'm incredibly picky when it comes to cars and design. I was all ready to hate it, but the seats are about the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. Once you get used to the display, it's completely fine. The car is comfortable and quiet and extremely fast and really well designed/engineered. And what really won me over was the Tesla Super Charging network. I didn't understand how quick they really were and they're so strategically located, it's genius. We leased the car for 3 years, figuring that the EV space is going to be quickly evolving and 3 years from now, who knows what we should be driving, but for now, I'm super happy with this choice.
Glad you like it. I really wanted to like it, but I can't recall being more disappointed in a car.

I like my tesla 3 quite a lot, but getting close to 3 years and 60k miles, it is showing it's age much more than it should. Just squeaks and rattles, etc. Perfectly reliable. I freaking HATE the 2021.44.25.2 over the air update. So much so, I'm halfway considering selling the car, just on principal. They should have no right to so drastically change the way one uses their own vehicle without any sort of permission/choice in the matter. It's like buying a red car and taking it to the dealership for service, and lo and behold they painted it brown while it was in the back. That said, no way I could have gotten anything remotely comparable for the price I paid in 2019, so I'm still happy overall. Polestar will be in consideration when it's time to replace this one.

The choices are certainly limited, but there's new EVs coming every few months now. Personally, I have my eyes on Lucid. They're priced out of my range right now, but I believe prices will come down...eventually. They use proprietary motors and the tech is awesome.

my other land cruiser😜

Just picked up a couple 3/4 ton Suburbans recently. One has the 8.1, the other has the 6.0 and Quadrasteer. I haven't decided which to keep yet. The 8.1 has way more gittyup than a 6000 pound vehicle should but the Quadrasteer turns like a Civic.

Wow, those are really cool Burbs! I herd the quadrasteer models were becoming quite collectible lately; even saw one on Cars n Bids recently.

The 8100 is an awesome engine too: last of the Chevy big blocks! You plan on towing a lot with them?

That's the plan. I have 4 kids and want to get a boat and/or RV. I also want to be able to tow this around when I need to.

My family always had a suburban from the early 90s through ~2009 as we were growing up. We would go on vacation all 6 of us plus the dog and everything we needed for the week. In its later years it became the car my sisters and I would hate to see pull up in front of the school 😅. 15 years later and now I’d love to have an older Suburban. Not sure what I’d do with it but they’re awesome!
