so not available through you then? Sorry, haven't ordered straight from Japan, is there a good site to go through?

I was going to PC it Rick, but didn't want to burden Smoking Gun.

So, I decided to go with Duplicolor Engine enamel with ceramic, low semi-gloss black. This way it can easily be touched up.

Looks great Onur...what did you use for a primer? I have some sliders that I need to do and was trying to decide between PC and using Eastwood chassis paint. Do you think the duplicolor will hold up best. I'm leaning towards paint since the sliders will take a good amount of abuse and I like the idea of easy touch ups.

Thanks

The front gaskets are in stock, the front and rear lenses are in stock as well. Cruiserdan can get them as well.

I was saying to get the "discontinued" stuff from Japan.

Amayama works. If you want a personal touch, then David Stedman is your man: sales@japan4x4.com

Rustoleum Professional, in semi-gloss, looks just like PC after it cures and the gloss dies down a little. I use the Professional primer also. I painted sliders with it about 8 years ago, and it still looks good in the spots where the rocks haven't attacked it.

Rustoleum paint seems to not like me...everytime I've used it I've ended up getting a pitted finish. Much better luck with Eastwood and SEM products for coverage. Is the pro better? Don't feel like having to re-do sliders.

Rustoleum Professional has worked well for me and gives a tough finish. Just be mindful of the instructions on the can, especially the part about "recoat within 1 hour or after 48 hours." I waited too long between coats on one project but then not the required 48 hours and ended up having to sand down to bare metal and start all over because the surface crinkled up on me.

The Pro seems to have better thinners than the regular. The key for me is to put down as heavy a coat as possible without runs, overlapping the wet edges. Two top coats, then stop. You have achieved the best possible outcome at this point.

That makes since that it crinkles on you like that, Tom. I think it uses a more volatile propellant/thinner, which is great for drying & curing, but will more violently attack paint that is in the in-between stage.

While this truck is unlikely to get wheeled, I like the idea of a spray bomb touch up. It's the approach I took on my FJ60 bumper. The Rustoleum Pro has worked well for me too. Or maybe it's just the smell...

But seriously, re-coat within an hour or so or it's a mess.

This is turning into such a good truck, I can't wait to see it working and doing it's thing. Point it west, drive 3000 miles and let's do another trip.

He's gonna need to do a whistle-stop tour.

Holy Schnikes!

What's the plan now Onur? This is getting more and more epic. (I can hear Shane cheering and cursing out of jealousy at the exact same time).

Just kidding..... No really. I can control myself!

PO had miles of BS wiring that needed to go. I'm just cleaning it all up...new head unit and better wiring setup.

Gotta be real careful as all of this stuff now is discontinued. I break anything, I eat it.

Good time to clean the HVACS system and some new parts I hoarded. :)

You're a brave man .....
At least you still have a cup holder for the beer.
