So, are you guys going to keep the R12 setup or update the system? I specifically went to a larger, better design condenser to deal with the switch to 134A.

Which condenser did you use?

Barely still available and has already been ordered.

;)

Ok, i have not idea...what's an expansion valve, how much are they and if I'm going to have my dash off (ton of after market wires in there that need to come out) and why's it a good idea to replace? Thanks

How much was that new condenser....its purdy...where did you order that from.

Onur, this thread is hugely helpful (exept to my wallet)....thank you for the thorough documentation.

Interesting, yours came with the pipe. Mine did not. My condenser is different since mine is an 85 vs your 87. Wonder why they didn't include my pipe... :hmm:

Hmmm... interesting. I ordered it from Rockauto using that part number I posted a while back. I didn't buy it based on vehicle application. I tried to buy it Amazon Prime, but they were out when I needed it. Same price though.

I bought mine at RockAuto. Pick the Denso version. It's more money but it is a Toyota company and OE.

IIRC, about $170 or so? (I should say that I paid a premium to have it overnighted).

It was a Chinese made condenser (most are now) that fit perfectly on the radiator support.

I don't remember the exact model off hand, but the cooling area was significantly increased.

Here is the thread about the condenser

Are you going to finish that thread? When I switched to 134, I kept the stock Denso and charged it as close as I could get it to the numbers for an 80 series. It worked good, no complaints. Rex didn't tell me about that bigger one though. That's good to know if I decide to change it later. Is there a higher cfm blower available?

Cool. I just bought a new Denso (R12 size) and am about to have it plumbed up to my new GM (Denso) compressor.

I'm ready to be done with my project, and so is my bank account, otherwise I'd switch to what you're running.

Sorry for the hijack Onur!

I don't know what these guys are talking about with the dash.

I have always been able to go from the stage you are in now, to put back together and running in 3 hours (in the 60, or the faux-lux). Usually beginning around 10PM so I can leave early the next morning. You can easily do the same.

Well, you know me Dan. Cleaning every part. Painting things as needed. Swapping parts out (hence, waiting for part arrival).

Speaking of part arrival... look what showed up from New Mexico... :grinpimp: Nicely powdercoated too!

Thanks Brother Dan!

Choke cable?

lol

I just saw the pic that shows the wheel studs welded to the carrier.
In retrospect it may be better to just press the studs and not weld them. My Slee came with three pressed studs and 3 open holes. I pressed in three more studs. Now I have a bunch of spare studs and lug nuts always on the truck for emergency repairs. Tap the stud out of the tire carrier and move it to the broken hub………

Very nice bumper by the way.

Replacing wheel studs on the trail is a PITA on a US spec 60 ;)
