“MUD” and leaves get caught in those areas behind the wheels. My driver side front fender had a pile of rotting leaves stashed behind the pinch weld for who knows how long. Now there’s an unsightly malignant growth of rust eating the fender from the bottom up.Finishing up Bens 62. We put in some 4:11 diffs (rear has an ARB locker) that we’re take offs from another members 60. Unfortunately the rear was leaking where the diff mates up with the housing. After pulling the diff I discovered the mounting surface had some imperfections on the outer edge. Subtle enough we did not notice this when originally installed. Some minor machining (dremmel and hand file) I flattened it out. You can see the high points highlighted by a paint pen. Also, removed the rear bumper and discovered an unusual rust spot behind the bumper cover. Some quick wire wheel work, welding & a flapper disc and it’s ready for a thin coat of body filler. This truck is extremely clean so well worth the effort while “in there”. View attachment 2449794View attachment 2449795View attachment 2449796View attachment 2449797View attachment 2449798
Nice metal work on closing up the holes. is this a TIG job or were you able to do it with a MIG? Always tricky with sheet metal. Was there a filler piece?Finishing up Bens 62. Hey Matt, I did use a mig. No patch piece as I was able to fill in the holes. At least after I burned through the thin edges of the original holesNice metal work on closing up the holes. is this a TIG job or were you able to do it with a MIG? Always tricky with sheet metal. Ben, it was a pleasure working on your 62. The great thing is you’re one that does not cut corners. Your willingness to do all the right upgrades made this job so much better to work on. Thanks again. JimmyI picked up my cruiser from Jimmy's barn last Sunday after a major overhaul. New H55, rebuilt t-case, rebuilt axles, new OME suspension, and much more. It's like a new cruiser and drives very well now. The 3FE + H55 is a great combo and a major upgrade from the A440 auto transmission. It's nice to be out of the slow lane and actually able to accelerate up hills now. Many thanks to Jimmy for all the work he did on my FJ62.

Man that’s a great question. If it came from a 2H or 12HT I know the input is correct for a 2F. My understanding is if it was mated to a 3B then you’ll need to swap the input. Maybe someone out here can chime in.This seems like the right place to ask - I’ve come across a used H55, but being in Canada I suspect it’s from a diesel. Here’s a photo of the input shaft - does this give enough info to know if it’s compatible with a 2f? I counted the splines on this H55 and it has 18![]()

I think your right it’s a B... obviously I’m far from knowledgeable but my 2F did have that tubular extension on the transmission cover when I replaced the gasket.I think this is from a B because it has a long tubular extension on the front cover.
Correct. My error. Was running out the door and did not pay attention to what I was doing.Thanks. The splines look right to me for 2f. I gather 3b is fine spline.
edit - just saw your photo of the finer splines. That’s the output end correct?
