If it warms up, all raptor liner the entire inside, otherwise will have to wait till after April to do it.

Next step is to work on a rear tube bumper and to install the new power steering cooler. Also need to work on power supply for rear auxiliary power and rock lights.

I'm thinking about integrating different turn signals too. This might make it look more old-school, as well as less damage on trails.

Thinking about an old-school looking rear bumper.

Found this heavy stainless plate.

Will integrate receiver in the middle, after cutting about 5 inches of the frame back.

May delete the stock taillights and integrate lights in the bumper.

The Low, Low price of nothing!

Good to have neighbors that watch out for you.

I am liking the idea of filling the area above the bumper, but below the tailgate with some angle, fill in the lights, then add a fj40 light box into this bumper. Somehow make it bolt on and off, oh and bend some 1.5" pipe to be a frame to add some strength to the bottom of this piece, curving around both sides.

Guess I should update this thread on the Hydro conversion I started too.... must take more pictures.

Time to work on the Hydro assist....

Pics of the box cleaning up and the resevoir.

Pictures are out of order, but cleaned up box, ported and wire brushed/painted it up.

I had previously expanded the reservoir, but forgot the baffle, so added that.. and my SCREAM ghost face.

your coming off the axle not the diff correct? thus the big piece of wood on top to mock up your mount? Cause diff is cast i think and the studs probably aren't rated for side load.. Looking good..

Yes, this is just mocked up. Have to make a big mount off of the axle.

Here is what Wrench did.

Looks awesome. Almost did the roll bar just like that in the rear but I am trying to retain the third row seat and frame for top. Hope I didn't make a mistake little worried the roll bar is gonna work the sheet metal on the corners. Time will tell. Corralling the kid will read your whole thread later. Keep up the great work.

Then it was time to Raptor line the inside. Rob helped me strip down the inside. Shot it with epoxy primer then raptor liner.

pulled off all the fenders, cowl, and other body parts that would pull off, and straightened them as best as I could -- then quick coat of mud and hung outside for some primer. Before doing so, I picked up a scoop from a Subaru off ebay and cut it in to the hood. Took more work than I thought to do this, as the scoop is not flush, you have to do some trimming. Ended up using some seam sealer to basically glue it onto the hood. I also have 3 of the bolts going through the hood to mechanically attach it.

Primer is Southern Poly's epoxy paint. Thanks Erik for letting me borrow some white.... Thanks again to Chevota for figuring out the scoop and to Rob for helping with painting.

I think that I showed some ideas of paint before. Basically going for a fj55 throwback look. Using monstaliner colors. The off white is not quite showing up well with pics. It is 3/4 white colorant and 1/4 of their off white. About what I wanted. I ended up shooting the off white and rolling the orange.

Next was to work on the rest of the body. Had some prior owner damage and some of my damage to beat out quickly. Monstaliner texture hides most everything, but want to spend a little time to make it better..... Oh, you can see the throttle cable that needs to be installed too.

List of stuff to do is big and have about 20 days left before SMORR....

Let's see.... goals for next few days.

Get rid of rear taillights. Sorry Beno, no more lights being purchased. Idea is to add the oldschool stainless bumper and recess fj40 lights in them. May go LED Flush if I have time. 12 gauge steel replacing lights.

Add custom hitch for recovery point. Plan is to take existing hitch and cut it up. First cut off outside bracket from main supports. Flip brackets upside down so they don't hang down then flush weld the brace back in. Goal is to have receiver in the middle of new bumper.

Finish bodywork, prime and monstaliner.

Add Ham radio, throttle cable, speaker bar, and new rock lights.

Front bumper add new rock lights.

Oh boy, this is going to be a ride....

scoop is for...looks? Didn't see a s/c anywhere in the thread...

This is basically a trail rig, so the scoop is for letting heat out of engine bay. Should not see too much rain -- topless -- so until I find someone to make a removable soft top, there should not be much water getting down the scoop.

Also, not going fast with this rig, so faced the opening forward for looks.

In contrast, on my supercharged rig, planning on putting same scoop on, but backwards to let heat out at speed. some rocket scientist had good argument that it would extract heat better.

Not planning on putting intercooler on it... If I change my mind, I will flip the direction to force air down.

more pics of the hydro assist work.

Dang, these posts are far between, but you sure get some stuff done in the mean time!

Keep us updated on the Guard Dogs! I found a lot of positive and negative reviews on these while searching around. A lot of people think they will blow apart and kill a buss full of nuns. Some people swear by them.

I can't wait to see the assembled vehicle!
