1976 FJ40. been looking at these for a while. finally found one id spend the money on. Excited to enjoy her in the pacific northwest.

Congrats and welcome FarmLife. That's a great looking rig - love the roof rack. It makes me want to get a hard top for mine so I could do the same.

Welcome to MUD!
Beautiful rig, love the tire/wheel combination and of course the rack!!:beer::beer:

Love the rear wheel flair, did you fab it yourself or was this a prefab unit? Really cool!:beer::beer:

They were custom made by Kina of North Country Land Cruisers out of NH. I'm sure he could make you a set. He is on th board here as Cruiserland.

Thanks for the info. I'll touch base with him.

Thanks Leaping Deer, I was gonna PM you to find out who made them! They've gone in really nice, I'm just finishing up skinning the passenger side today.

Changed my rear diff gear oil and put a new gasket on the cover, sealed up my leaky oil pan with a new one piece gasket, and changed my oil to my preferred winter weight and threw on a new filter

Better than doing clutch on my 1994 Infiniti;) Glad you could get some quality time on the rig. My truck is sitting in my mom's garage waiting for me to put the top back on!!

I licensed it again!!!!! she sure needs work but it's just so fun to drive. my restoration plans have been put on hold for a few extra months so I'm just gonna drive it. :)

Hallelujah that is what they are made for...

Mines a dd and did my usual swoop over her and noticed a leaky inner front hub seal...rectified that today...good to go again for work tomorrow....saves redoing the bearings and all...will be due for new bearings in 10k any way...may have a job at Uluru (Ayers Rock) and that is a 1900km round trip everything is so far away here...at least I get to blow the cobwebs out though!

Played around with front shock combos...

An interesting combo of dampers which just points to my resolve in keeping suspension frequency near the ceiling

The yellow Monroe Air Max when charged up around 80 psi of air lifts the car up by around 1-1.5 inches to where it stands at 20 psi. The Gabriel "coil overload" shock acts as a helper spring and though looks serious, is hardly the equivalent of an additional spring in the leaf pack, nevertheless I liked its response on my CJ's rear so had to try it out on the FJ. Running OEM leafs at front but with just three main leafs at this stage!

Very nice looking cruiser!!

I've lived in the Willamette Valley as far back as I can remember (but not native Oregonian). I had never heard of Helvetia before, so I had to google it to find out where you are at. Not that far out of Portland.

I'm between Albany, Salem, and Jefferson.

Last night I watched TV with our youngest son.
There was a replay of an old (1981) kiwi classic movie on Maori Television (which often proves itself to be the best free-to-air channel we have).
The movie was called "Smash Palace" and it features lots of FJ40's and even an FJ55.

Same as last Sunday (posted above) but this time the best TV channel screened "Sleeping Dogs"!

This movie's not as good (scriptwriting, acting or photography) but it probably shows more 40-series cruisers than exist in this whole country today.

And it also enables older kiwis like myself to ponder how much this country has changed (mostly for the worse) from the way it used to be..

PS. This one can be found on U-tube too Pearly.

PPS. OK so this post is misuse of this thread because I haven't done anything on my cruiser... But at least I did watch my cruiser's cousins frolicking on a movie set so it is definitely cruiser-related.
