We need some of these shirts! Love those covers, much better than a '70's smiley face!

Finally got my running lights working, all electrical is up to snuff, getting my "newly rebuilt" 2F ready for install!

Last night I watched TV with our youngest son.

There was a replay of an old (1981) kiwi classic movie on Maori Television (which often proves itself to be the best free-to-air channel we have).

The movie was called "Smash Palace" and it features lots of FJ40's and even an FJ55.

Prepping for herculiner

Finally got a small hole welded up in the floorpan today and started prepping the interior for a complete herculiner job this week. Think I'll take a day or two of vacation to get it done...

Resurrected my 55 from the dead!! Just got it. Has not run or been driven since 2009. Got it started and drove it around the block. Felt good.

My PO added an OEM rollbar to my 1970 FJ40, but only put bolts in half the holes, so drilled and bolted those.

He also changed the rear doors to ambulance style, but just cut a hole for the lower door latch rather than use a striker plate. Little bit of body flex would cause the rear doors to fly open. So, drill, tap and add striker.

Not sure what the OEM connectors were for the headlights but mine came with the wiring going to a screw terminal bar attached to the fender. Drove me nuts over the last few months since I was doing a lot of engine work and need to remove the fenders and drop the bib. So, soldered some connectors on so I can just unplug the lights.

Soaked some bolts in Liquid Wrench.

Trimmed the pipe the PO attached as a front bumper. I almost don't mind it now. Cut off some random leftover tabs and welds attached in and around the bumper. Cleaned and prepped for paint.

Figured out why my idle was sticking high: need a spring on the carb!

Drilled and tapped the spring pin bolt holes. Most of the old bolts broke off when swapping springs.

Tried to tighten up the manifold nuts to kill an exhaust leak.

Had 4 OEM rims sandblasted and powder coated grey. 2 look great. 2 look awful.

Cut, Weld, Grind, Repeat....oh how I hate rusted steel. It is taking shape, just oh so slowly.

Worse yet, after a long days work, I forgot to take a pic of my work at the end of the day :bang:

Keep focused on the goal :steer:

Put the hardtop on for the first time in 3 years. :(

But.. a plus is that I drove it for the first time since April when it caught fire! Finally got everything rewired and repaired and drove it today. Just a few miles to my parents house to pickup the hardtop. But it made me very happy to drive her again!

Ha ha.. you can tell I don't like the top too much, I've never repainted it and repainted the tub a number of times.
