Clutch slave cylinder

Lost clutch pressure on the road. Pulled over and installed a spare that I happened to have in the back. Done in 10 minutes. Next!!

Wish that had happened to me! When my slave went I was totally stranded. Seems like the slave cyls. are a weak point on 40s.

Well this week I learnt how to replace the governor diaphragm which worked beautifully its now glow and start YAY!!!, finally finished cleaning up the wiring harness( wasn't much was just procrastinating!) recovered the rear seats and rear back rests plus the door cards, finally got the dash installed and have just got to get a new gasket for the oil filter mount and we can put the front guards and grill bib and bezel back in place!!

nothing like a lungful of diesel in the morning, hj47 bj40... alllll mine!!!!

Eh, I lost my clutch slave this weekend too. JUST got it running good, was drivng it all day Saturday and loving it. That evening my wife and I went to town and she wanted to take the cruiser so we climbed in and I put it into reverse and almost ran over the neighbours fence becuase the clutch wouldn't go in and the brakes aren't strong enough to stall the cruiser in 1st or reverse (SM420)! Climbed out and looked down and sure enough... fluid dripping down the the slave.

Crappy thing is we were going wheeling Sunday and I didn't have a spare. I ordered once from Toyota but it won't be here until tomorrow so I had to leave my cruiser behind for snow wheeling. :(

I think they must be a weak point, or just getting old and worn... I have rebuilt my slave twice since I owned it. I did rebuilt the master once, but it didn't need it, I was just replacing/repairing everything I could when I put the V8 in it a few years ago.

Last night I watched TV with our youngest son.

There was a replay of an old (1981) kiwi classic movie on Maori Television (which often proves itself to be the best free-to-air channel we have).

The movie was called "Smash Palace" and it features lots of FJ40's and even an FJ55.

Wait, vent windows on the doors, and vent windows in the rear quarter windows?

Cool!

I guess that is Aussie only...

Took the youngest daughter and 40 out wheelin at Clayton, Ok on Green Country Cruisers annual picnic. She renamed the 40 Buck, after the movie Uncle Buck. Due to exhaust leaks and carb, Buck backfires when you let off the gas!

That is a sweet picture! It looks like it is 20 or 30 years old. Did you add any effects to make it look like that?

Get your rebuild kits from Toyota and the rebuilds will last longer.

Did some more clean up of lousy paint and started sorting out the new wiring harness that will be going in hopefully in the next week or two. Oh the funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Resurrected my 55 from the dead!! Just got it. Has not run or been driven since 2009. Got it started and drove it around the block. Felt good.

:bounce:

True finally made it down to Moab but didnt take any pictures. Wife ran a half marathon and didn't want to get crazy. It was beautiful weather and I'm sorry I did not get a picture of the sunset coming out of poison spider it was truly breath taking

:DWondering what you think of the SOR Trans/transfer case oil return line? Does it work - was it worth the $$ - think it could be fabrecated @ home for less money???. Any idea what size the fitting were?? I'm thinking maybe 10 mm or maybe 3/4 pipe???? Been thinking about the same fix but looking for fewer $$ out the door??

Thanks - LBM:bounce:

come on, now  considering the time you have spent about this on the forum by now, you wasted more than those $65 dollars just in your own time

install it and be done with it (SOR or MAF, both work) wheel happily ever after :steer:

in my experience other things have failed earlier than that - your experience may vary

Honestly doesn't take that much longer to pull the t-case and fix the seal.

You just have to be committed!
