Supposedly, you have to remove the bumper to install the panel. No big deal; I will just take the tire off and get a friend to grab the other side and slide her right off.

I did drill the holes, but I'm not entirely sure it was necessary. I'd go ahead and do it while you have the bumper off just to be safe. The whole reason for the holes is to allow for clearance of a screw. I'd just take and angle grinder ad chop off a large section of the piece and not worry about the 22mm part. Make sense?

Also, I removed the little spring loaded locking mechanism from the swing out. I didn't like how it locked into place when the carrier was open. The lever is hard to reach and it was a big PITA that I didn't want to have to deal with.

The gas strut has more than enough power to hold the arm open (at least when the truck is on a level surface). I may just put the little arm back in, but remove the spring so it doesn't engage every time I open the swingout.

Very weird. I'm sure you can buy one if the OE harness is there. I would look up under the passenger side rear for a white plug that is capped off behind the bumper.
I bought my rig new in 2013, went to hook up a trailer about month later and no plug, brought it back to Toyota and they told me that they add those at the port when they come in and sometimes they forget to put them on. They ordered and slapped it on mine, seemed a bit weird, they sometimes forget:)

I guess I am out of luck since mine is used.

Anybody not want their plug and want to donate to me? :)

Perfect sense. They are still trying to find my panel, but not going to let that stop me from install

In the last week I installed my prestigious audio Navi add on. Here is where I put my switch. Its tucked up on the left panel by the cig lighter.
Also got sick of the chipped woodgrain on the shift knob, so I painted it to match the metallic trim.

Also installed my BajaRacks utility rack. Its a new design, well tweaked a little from the previous. I'm very happy with the rack.

Dude, get that Baja Rack off your truck ASAP! From personal experience, those flat feet will press flat spots onto your roof that you cannot get out, even after pulling the headliner. I have a complete thread on this, with pictures and everything. You should take a look at the new FrontRunner feet that fit inside of the grooves or the ARB which does the same. Sorry, to be the bearer of bad news.

Mine didn't have the tow plug either. I found one on eBay that plugged right into the harness and came with the bracket for about 30$.

I read your thread. I wasn't concerned that greatly with a couple dents on the roof at the feet. It's not like i'll be taking the rack on and off. I was concerned about your powder coating issues which seem to be resolved. And the proximity to the roof at the front which has also been addressed. They also used all four mounting points on each side.

@bj70cruiser Wouldn't happen to have a link, would you?

Thank you.

I'll reference the number to Beno and see what he can get it for.

Ok, so that is really weird, the part number 82169-60080 does not seem to exist. None of the part retailers seem to carry it.

What is that all about?

MS.

that number looks like a drawing number. i've run into that problem a lot. i found a copy of the drawing with the number, but don't know how to post a bitmap. found it on google images.

We did not drill the 22mm hole. I have a good unused hole saw we bought in preparation if anyone wants to borrow it though!

Of all the million little things on the bumper the latch locks are the only part that has needed re-adjustment after install.
