You installed a flame thrower rack to hold fishing rods?

This is what I installed

This is for when I can drive on the beach and moving from spot to spot. After im already setup. I use sand spikes but could use this rack too but wasnt planning in that. My surf rods are 10-12 footers and I break them down for transport.

I was using my trasharoo for this but lost a rod/reel setup in the OBX and got this rack for $70.
This makes sense. I was envisioning that thing full of long rods flailing back and forth like CB antennas at highway speeds.

While we’re on the topic of fishing. Since we started having kids a 7 yrs ago my wife and I have changed up our fishing to accommodate the kids attention spans, at 6 and 7 they are just now getting to the point where using a pole is fun but for a while it was a no go for them. We started using a 50 foot seine net at the beach and it’s been a blast, the buckets full of shrimp and crab have really made it tough to want to switch back to poles. Our beach trips are Georgia barrier islands so location will play a role. I still get my tug on with shoal bass, there is no substitute to the sound and feeling of running drag.

I found a stowaway while performing regular maintenance, we picked this guy up on a recent trip into Wyoming. I know this for a fact because I was able to kill his buddy when airing down after leaving camp one morning, a couple hours later we came face to face through the windshield with his other buddy. I was able to grab him by hand and evict it.

This guy was on the skid plate when I pulled it to access the oil filter. 3 mice from one campsite we stayed at for 2 nights.

It’s an epidemic! I like the talk of all the traps and pellet guns, but I cook my varmint low and slow (Texas style). My method is on 210 for about 1,100 miles (or 2 days) between Basalt, CO and Klein, TX. The smell in the garage gave him away after we got home. I don’t recommend this method. The removal process is a stinky chore. Of course he expired in a difficult place to reach under the manifold cover and snug against the firewall.

Dang! Hope he didn't cook to fork tender and come out in pieces. :smokin:

I have one of these in my engine bay since I'm out in the boonies so often. Can't say it's the silver bullet but I haven't had any signs of rodents either. I also have one mounted to the undercarriage of my travel trailer.

Do these noise things really work or have you just not been visited by mice yet? I need to check for someone doing a real nice torture test with one.

I love my Dissent roof rack but I loathe repositioning the things I have mounted up there. I’ve been removing the bike racks when we take our extended summer trips and mount my traction boards where the bike racks go. When the racks are attached I have to strap the boards down because I can’t get the twisting peg things from maxtrax to space properly, this has been problematic because the boards rattle if not super tight and when super tight are a pain to remove.

I picked up this mounting plate from Kaon and it has solved the spacing issue with the twisty peg things. I believe this is going to be my permanent set up for the foreseeable future. Some type of quick disconnect option would be really nice in case I want to carry my canoe up there when pulling my camper. Or do I have too many hobbies?

There's definitely mice in my area and yard. A family moved into my trailer at one point. Can't say it's 100% the ultrasonic device but it was worth installing. Then again, there's different types of rodents in different areas and what works for me may not for others.

I have the kaon folding maxtrax mounting plates and they are awesome. Without them I would not be able to fit in the garage.

Oh dayum, I like those better! My current set up clips the garage door by the tiniest amount.

I had debated on mounting them on the side of the rack at an angle above the doors but thought that looked too much like a jeep thing that I don’t understand.

I’ve had pretty good luck with one of those ultrasonic devices.. not zero mice, but less perceived traffic.
