I found a stowaway while performing regular maintenance, we picked this guy up on a recent trip into Wyoming. I know this for a fact because I was able to kill his buddy when airing down after leaving camp one morning, a couple hours later we came face to face through the windshield with his other buddy. I was able to grab him by hand and evict it.

This guy was on the skid plate when I pulled it to access the oil filter. 3 mice from one campsite we stayed at for 2 nights.

Where you see one, there are probably a couple dozen.

A site I use a lot in Colorado has a bit of a mouse problem, so I brought some snap traps a few years ago. I’m not exaggerating.. in a few hours sitting by the fire I killed 19 with four traps.. listen for the snap, go empty it and toss the fodder into the woods, and reset.

The ultrasonic/lighted repeller that Teckis posted about has seemed to work pretty well for subsequent trips. Plus, as much evidence as there is of mice, they haven’t seemed to chew anything there so far. But it does make me nervous.

I’ve encountered mice before but only once has one actually moved in. That guy was a nightmare to evict, it required a pump pellet gun and shop vac to finally accomplish the job.

Usually we’re on the move after a couple nights but it makes me nervous as well… a couple nibbles on the wrong wire could be a major issue.

The trap idea is a good one. I can keep a few in the camper and distribute around the vehicles. I can see this turning into a fun, slightly sadistic, game. I’ll also look for the Teckis post and pick up a more human and boring deterrent.

Never thought about it before now. Adding traps to the camping list.

If nothing else it'll tell you they are around. Tiny footprints in the brake dust on silver wheels is also a good indicator.

I read about cougar urine on cotton balls near each wheel as a natural odor deterrant for marmots.. and that stuff STINKS. But either the bottle I had was too old or mice didn't care.. didn't seem to slow them down one bit.

Also the harness that mice seem to chew most and cause problems is the knock sensor harness under the intake manifold. That is only a $30 part and while it would take a couple hours to change, it is field serviceable. One of these comes with me on all of my roadtrips in the tool bag. That part number is 82219-60090 and while I didn't check every single year, 2008 and 2021 are the same, and a few other random years thrown in were as well.

Hard pass on the cat pee, if my family of 4 peeing doesn’t keep them away then I’m drawing the line there… pee ain’t a thing I’m trying to carry in my kit.

However, I’ll be adding that knock sensor to my kit. This is the type of insight that makes this forum so valuable!

Bought him!

I suppose I need to sell my 100 now. Keeping the 62.

This is to hold me over til the 250 is out for a couple years I reckon'

Added a Carpuride. I've had a bit of micro-disconnects with Bluetooth, we'll see if those sort out. I'll tidy up the cables when it isn't 110 outside or I can get into an air conditioned garage.

Does that thing lower much more? It looks really high up compared to the passenger side

Who's gonna be the first?

Apologies if this is a dumb question but is this for transport or rod holders while surf fishing? I only ask because the roof is always my go to rod transport spot.

This is for when I can drive on the beach and moving from spot to spot. After im already setup. I use sand spikes but could use this rack too but wasnt planning in that. My surf rods are 10-12 footers and I break them down for transport.

I was using my trasharoo for this but lost a rod/reel setup in the OBX and got this rack for $70.
