Thanks! Yeah.. Those Parti's really confuse the auto exposure.

Question for those of you that have had both a 100 and 200 or use your 200 as family vehicles.

Trying to decide on what to get my wife for our ’family vehicle’ that will be used as a DD and for family camping trips.

We have a 3yo and a 6mo old. Currently in a gx470 that is too small with the car seats.

Is the 200 any bigger than the 100 (primarily the back seats)?

Did you feel like the upgrade was worth the money?

Any regrets not going bigger ie sequoia?

Overall how happy are you with the 200 as a family vehicle?

My 2 cents....previously have had a 2007 4Runner, a 2007 Lexus GX470 and a 2014 4Runner Limited. Now have 2011 LX570. 3 kids from 9 to 14. I do envy the 3rd row and available captain chairs in the Sequoia. But, the all around package and build quality and off road abilities of the 200 series made me go with the LX. We've taken numerous long distance trips and yes the 3rd row isn't as roomy as some other options but it's sufficient for our uses so far. With your 2 kids, I would think space would not be an issue as the middle row has plenty of space. I've not had a 100 series so I can't compare that. I'm a car nut and am always chasing the rabbit of all the vehicle options for certain use cases. I have, and still am, looking at an F150 down the road. With that said, the longer I have the LX and the more I use it, I keep coming back to that it's such a fantastic all around vehicle and something I should just plan on keeping for a long, long time.

@bloc .. glad to have another leatherique fan in here. I found it 3 years ago and that's all I use now, once a year on all my cars. Agree with being careful on perforated part of the seats but the stuff just works great!!!

My family situation is very similar to yours. I went right to the 200 from the beginning and will never look back. It handles everything and everyone, and think it is the best option for a family of four.

Basically. I have a shop vac that doubles as a leaf blower and used that.

I need to do this. How difficult was getting to the inside of the seat?

Not terribly exciting, but I talked my buddy into selling me one of his pre-export control Scepter fuel cans, and picked up a Scepter Water can. Mounted to the roof with the Rhino Rack Double Jerry Horizontal mount. It's nice and secure and I haven't really even noticed the weight up there.

As a previous owner of an '05 T4R, '06 LX470, and having spent significant time with my parents '06 GX470...

The 100-series and 200-series space and functionality is practically the same. In all positions. That's not really a differentiator between the two.

What it's going to come down to is costs obviously. For more modern fitments, safety, power, refinement, and towing capacities. It's a big step up in power and towing especially.

Just as @TeCKis300 said above, the space isn't noticeably larger than in a 100 series. I think the back seat is a little wider in the hip measurement or at least it feels wider. Having had a 4Runner, 80, 100, and 200, I say skip the 100 and go straight 200. I could have done without my 100. It was just kinda of blah. Not as capable as the 200 unless you invested heavily. Perfect setup for me would be an 80 and a 200.

My high dollar Center console cover... finally arrived on a slow boat from China... I didn’t realize where it was coming from or it was going to be LC personalized. Fits nice! Top lid closes fine. Even with my pile of masks.

Does it have extra padding?

I got the tan for my LX. Was not expecting the "Land cruiser" logo. Looks a little cheap on the tan. It the only thing I could find to protect the center console though. Looks way better in black on on a LC. LX fitment isn't exact with the split console. Just FYI.

I got one of these and I too remember it took a long time to receive.

I think you’re right and I just need to spend the extra on a 200. I’ve had a 100 before kids and it was great but agree somewhat bland, especially the interior. That’s a weird era for cars in general with the antiquated and non-upgradable tech post 2001-3ish.

I love my DD 80 and wouldn’t trade it for anything. but man is it tight with the car seats. I can’t imagine taking it on any trip longer than an hour or two until the kids are in booster seats.

We have a 2 year old and a 1 week old, and most likely a 3rd sometime in the next couple years. We just added a 200 (2020) for my wife to DD. I currently DD a 100 (2002). Size wise they feel the same on the inside. The 200 will be the road trip vehicle since the ride quality, power, safety features, and cabin noise are significantly better. To be fair, I am comparing a new vehicle with one that is 18 years old... Anyways, our plan is for the wife to DD the 200 for the next 5 years and then move into something bigger as the kids require more room (then I keep both LCs 😈). I’m hoping for some sort of Tesla/Rivian 7 seater for her by then. I recommend the 200 based on what you described! Good luck!

giving rototrax a try. Stack great, rotopax dlx handles great for on off. We’ll see with time if they rescue well. Like 4 gal pax 17.5” mount separation, easy to fit. These are the middle bars.

Love the look of both your cruisers! My biggest issue with the gx470 has been the size with the rear facing seat. Not a permanent problem obviously but at 6'3" its tight, even front facing. As much as I would like to save the money an buy a 100 I think that the 200 would better serve our needs. The 100 does hold up remarkably well given some are 20 years old at this point. However unless you get an earlier one you are stuck with an antiquated head unit that is almost impossible to upgrade. Not to mention the additional safety, power, etc you brought up

I like the initial stuff coming out about the Rivian will be interesting to see how those actually turn out once they're on the road

We're done with 2 kids but if we ever need anything bigger I can always inherit the cruiser and my 80 can be the garage queen!

I had to go pick up a couch the other day so I pulled out a tape measure to figure out which vehicle to take - 80, 100 or 200.

They all measured the same...

looks great and the fit appears to be better then the escape gear cover. I had to modify the escape gear cover in order for it to not interfere with the hinges. Still requires too much force to close for my liking. How is it opening and closing the center council with this cover installed ?

I purchased Escape Gear and the Salusy (sp?) cover as well. You will notice the Salusy cover is a little harder to close than nothing, but it's a lot less than the Escape Gear. Enough difference that I don't use the Escape Gear console cover.
