Did the 80k service this weekend. Fancy way of saying a L.O.F job, but what a P.I.A. job it is. I've had it into the dealer for the service intervals mostly, because they own the motor :flipoff2:. This time I just felt like doing it myself, see what it's looking like at 10+ years old.

Might have to add this to the order list, especially with the EZ drain valve.

You will like it and get the valve for the oil sump with nipple as well. Much cleaner way to accomplish a task that can get messy.

I ordered mine from Jowett just 2 hrs ago as I plan to do mine this weekend (just don’t trust the shop to do it).

Trusting the shop is how they (the dealer) ended up owning the motor. Search and you'll see why.

Just did my first oil change last night (40k miles, bought it with 34k 2 months ago). Not too bad except for having to remove the skid plate to get at the filter.

Having trouble resetting the service reminder on the dash though. I let it run for a bit and set the odo to trip A then shut off. Held down the trip reset button and started it but nothing happens, i still get the service reminder. Any tips?

What year? More recent years are reset via a menu option in the settings.

To reset oil maint screen reminder:
  1. Switch the display to the trip meter A when the engine is running.
  2. Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch OFF.
  3. While HILDING the trip meter reset button...press START **but do not start the engine (foot off brake ped.)
  4. Continue to press and hold the button until the multi-information display indicates that the reset is complete.
Done.

Yes, the key is to not start the engine while holding the trip button down. Foot off the brake, press START twice so ignition is on, then wait for the message to clear (watch the center display). Then shut it back off, and start normally. Just did mine the other day.

Stupid light has no relevance with reality. Just a nuisance.

@CGP I see now that you're in a 2016 (don't see signatures on the mobile device). For 16+ just scroll through the settings in the MFD and you'll find an option to reset the oil maintenance. I don't believe the other methods listed above work on the more recent model years.

@bryson, HM oils use a petroleum base seal modifier. According to Mobil 1, use HM for two oil changes and must then use for life of engine. This is like crack to your seals. I'd flush it!

Crack in coil generally signal pending failure.

Just saying;)

Old post, I know... @2001LC I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
Just getting ready to change the oil again, and I left the HM 0w20 syn in there for nearly 5k miles - Is it the high mileage oil additives that you're saying are likely to crack the seals, or changing back to non HM oil after the HM has been there for a couple changes that is likely to crack seals? It is fully synthetic high mileage oil.

The HM oils are plenty easy to get of these days, so what reason is there to NOT run it for the life of my engine?

What are MUD's thoughts? I'm sure there are several out there using high mileage oils...?

Is this mod just another button more conveniently placed, what rail is this one-driver side?

This is actually a very useful mod if you camp out of the back of your LC. The button allows you to open the tailgate from inside. And the handle makes it easier to reach up and close the upper half. There are threads on this from a couple years ago when Curt first came out with this kit. A number of us installed it.

The last few weeks haven't been about what I can do for my 200, but what it can do for me. Hauled me and two buddies up to NH for a weekend of ice climbing and summiting Mt. Washington last weekend and hauled the family up to Mt. Snow for three days of skiing this weekend. It had ample opportunity to demonstrate its ability to start in -20 temperatures.
