Its with the Baja Rack Jerry Can mount. seemed like the best option I could find to work with Wavian cans. It’s designed to mate with their roof rack but was an easy install to pair with the Dissent Offroad accessory tray. Makes me appreciate the R&D and weight savings that Dissent @benc provides with their use of aluminum , the steel Jerry can mount is a porker lol.

You are very welcome, been trying to find a good solution for mounting jerry cans. Other than the weight of it my only gripe is that it's a couple inches wider then the accessory tray so I hack sawed off a couple inches of the base to keep it flush to the accessory tray. Was able to use the existing dissent mounting holes to secure it on one side. And The other side i drilled couple holes through the baja base and then through the dissent tray, Rock solid. The other option i was looking at was the K9 Jerry can mount. Unfortunately, the reviews say it doesnt work well with wavian cans...otherwise this would have been my first choice. It's looks to be more compact and a single piece folding design.

Looks like a pretty simple mod to the Baja rack mount. Very helpful info. Thanks, @TLC2013!
 
The frame will yield before the tow points. Have a couple uparmored vehicles running them!
Is that intended? Do the stock tow points fail before the frame?

The sacrifical component of a system should really never be the one that cannot be replaced/repaired.
 
I don't want to perpetuate this argument, but most people don't own a rope or vehicle capable of those forces. The soft shackle is the fusable link. The stock points are tie downs...not recovery points. Your strap or rope will yield long before a tow point or frame. That is...if you had something that could even pull that hard

Making slow progress on the Dissent rear bumper install and got the tire carrier installed. Working on Mount for the Roam box.

Down the path of trying to freshen up 13 yr old sun baked plastic. Also undoing a piss poor job of someone just spraying clear coat over an oxidized lens.

I didn’t take a before of the lens I finished, but they looked about the same.

What you planning to store in the roam box?
Recovery gear and quick access items that I have accessed through the hatch pre swing out. I like the swing out spare but 99% of the time it will be a PITA.

I like this set up. Nicely done. I was looking at ideas to get a storage box on the accessory swing out. With two Jerry cans there about 5”x16” space left over. currently using a small ammo can to hold a couple soft shackles and tow strap.
 
Got dirty looks by doing some snow donuts at Lowe’s, few days later I pulled the sixty out of garage and brought the LX in for some wrenching.

Continued what I assumed would be some uneventful fluid swaps as part of my 200k pm/baselining. Successfully did the rear diff, center diff, and greased the front and rear shafts/propellers

Then everything went bad…figured my nice and clean “southern LX” wouldn’t have the notorious seized front diff drain plug…I was wrong…. Stripped the Allen hole…. Tried a torx, no dice…. Tried pliers… tried chiseling…. Pb blasted for days.

Then decided to try “just weld a nut one”….. Initially tried on outside, then realized couldn’t get the socket to bite, then filled the hole blindly by feel…insert jokes here…. went through three nuts and all kept snapping off…so went to hardware store

After a good night sleep decided to try a new route. Deleted the mound of weld from the nuts…. Kind of nerve racking given the strange angles and lack of space to get a disc in there

Tooak a half x 1.5” bolt, added another big nut to it, fused them together, ground off threads, did some careful balancing of a 3/8” steel flat bar to hold the end carefully to plug. Welded one, used socket to snap it off… repeat this two times.. clean everything back up again, curse, get scared repeat

On my third attempt I just shot a ton from every angle…. Sadly got a drip that connected plug and case.. yikes .. very careful surgery with cutoff wheel.. then small chisel.. phew that was a close call…. Deep breath

Happy to announce, my 9th attempt finally worked…. It finally released! Well it’s Miller time, I’m gonna do an uneventful fluid swap later because that was too stressful… always amazes me how a simple job turns into days of drama
 
Swapped out the factory fog lights for a set of Baja Designs Squadron Sports in amber. Baja Designs part number 447115. The kit is plug and play with the factory harness once you install the included adapters. Pretty straightforward install using the factory bolts for the factory fogs. Down the road when I add a metal bumper I will be able to switch out the angled frame that fits the factory fog surround for a flat frame and use inside a metal bumper with a 3x3in cutout. Thanks to Eric Sergeant for the you tube video and part number! Looking forward to this improvement driving in Colorado snowstorms and overland trips in the Utah backcountry.

Regardless if you choose white or amber the Baja Designs lights put out a ton more light than factory. They have a few versions I went with the squadron sports. You can get the squadron pro’s for more brightness or they make a SAE version (least amount of brightness). As for color choice it’s somewhat preference. Amber are better for dust and snowy conditions which is why I chose them for Colorado and my yearly trips to Utah.

Is there a consensus opinion/method for how one can avoid this in the future? For example, does preventative application of anti-seeze prevent it?

Hey @JAS4 check out this thread below, there’s a lot of good discussion but it seems the only consensus is to buy a Lexus bolt that has an external head which i believe is less prone for stripping. Lexus PN # 90341-24016

I have read about these things seizing again 500miles after folks have regeared.

The Kaon dudes have figured out a great way to remove the plug with the below tool and they also sell a new drain plug that does not use an Allen key will save you the headache of dealing with that stripped plug. Just go to Kaon’s website and pick LC 200 in the vehicle type. They know the 200 very well​
