Replaced my sun faded headlights with some Russian eBay knock offs. Not cheap, but not $800 each or whatever the OEM ones cost. Also installed an eBay snorkel. It has been about 5 years since I last installed one, but it was pretty easy and fits well. Also swapped out to my backup mesh grill while i

Nothing sexy, but changed the oil this morning. God bless Brian Jowett and Fumoto.

Finally a wonderfully uneventful and boring maintenance job, swapped out my steering fluid. Easy peezy…. Old fluid wasn’t too bad..

Then went to our monthly club event, so I flipped her into High mode so I could hang with the big boys respectably.

Spent 10mins to pull the seats out.. gonna be building a platform for the rear

Oil change plus changed the front and rear diff oil. Quaker State full sunthetic with OEM filter (which apparently my local Wal-Mart stocks). Valvoline full synthetic 75/90 gear oil. I have the Ravenol stuff for the TC when the time comes.

I’ve had truck for 16k miles and it was Lexus maintained up until 80k or so. That leaves 20k “unknown” that only has some jiffy lube stops in the maintenance history. I’m sure the gear oils don’t get too dark since it’s a sealed system. But what came out looked pretty fresh. The magnets did have some shavings.

I replaced all the plugs with the long magnetic ones suggested in these parts (Toyota,, not aftermarket “rare earth” versions). Didn’t have any issues getting plugs out. I used anti seize to hopefully keep up that trend.

Front would be easier if you took the frontt tire off. Then just ziptie a hose connected to a funnel holding the hose into the fill hole. I made a mess before I went and got a ziptie. And used a pump from under the truck. Between the floppy gear oil bag and all the pump hoses, next time I will be taking off the tire.

Rear, drop the spare and it takes 15 min from start to finish. Super easy.

Did you paint your hitch bay white or they come that way?! Impressive
i painted it.
i have a spare plastic cover, i was going to cut it up into a U shape, so the hitch is accessible, but the ugly little plastic slot holes are hidden. but have not got around to that yet. will post when i do it.

I just used epoxy appliance white paint from home depot...it is holding up fairly well

I like the cut of your jib

Here is what i did to my LX570. it cost next to nothing and is REALLY helpful, especially on long trips. All the tools, revovery stuff, air pumps, etc are below the wooden deck and easy to find

That's the type of platform I'm going for thanks! My height will be 13" to be able to slide the Plano boxes underneath and using 3/4" birch as the platform since it's not much more than 3/4" plywood

Is that Tipsy Buro? If so can I get details on event? I used to live 2 blocks from there.
Bingo! Keen eye! I’ll dm you.

yes, i wondered about the height, but the inside dimension height of 11 1/2 inches (that comes from me using 2x12 lumber) did work out for me. I do not have any long term storage items that are taller than than 11 1/2" interior height.

Finding the right sliding boxes for me was a little tricky. the duffel bag i had and it just fit, The black box/bag with the open top i had to use some heavy scissors to cut the end walls down a little to slide in.

In the LX570, the floor dips significantly as it reaches the 2nd row seats, so instead of building up the lumber to 13 or 13 1/2 half inches tall that i needed, i just pushed that member back a few inches so it was sitting on the flat floor still. I am not sure if you need to do that in a land cruiser or not. without the cross member 2x12 firmly on the floor, i was worried about the plywood sheet warping and dipping.

if i made the piece with the orange arrow pointing at it taller, it could have been pushed downward and i would have picked up the 2 1/2 " of more space.
but it is not wasted space, i have some stuff wedged into that small space between the wood and the backs of the 2nd row seats.

i used a hole saw 1" diameter to punch thru the top piece of 3/4" plywood, to give me a couple of tie down points for internal big stuff.

why the hell don't they paint the hitch well to be the exact same color as the bumper?
A black hitch well with a pure white bumper is NOT the look i was hoping to see on an LX! :)

Yeah, im trying to get one of the pass through covers to hide it nicely but ebay has only black or white.

I honestly couldnt even get my cover off without destroying the body clips. But, thats how i treat body clips these days anyway. I just rip them out and replace them, they are not worth me breaking my back over them when they all suck so bad and never release as designed.

Carefull, i almost ordered one, but someone on a nother forum pointed out it would not work with my lx570....there is a bump out in my cover that the one on ebay did not have. so really look closely on the picture on ebay.

those clips for sure would NOT work for multiple inserts/removals. i was toying with the idea of holding it on with strong magnets instead
