Loaded it up to the gills and went to the beach. With the 2.5 OME medium kit and about 1,000 of people and cargo it rides great at 75mph on the highway. Back roads are still a little choppy, but much better than when it's just me in it.

How do you like that roof box? My neighbor had an LX back in the day and has had a nice Thule box sitting in their garage. They said I could take it home for $50. Is there lots of wind noise?

It's great. I got 2 pack n plays (portable cribs), 3 beach umbrellas, 2 beach chairs and a couple smaller items in there without too much trouble. There is no wind noise at all. If I didn't open the sun shade and look up I never would of known it was there.

But we took this trip without our 90lb lab. We plan to bring him with us to Florida later this year, so that means more stuff needs to go up or out in the back rack. I have an 18 month old and a 3 month old, so I have 2 car seats in the back, plus my wife sits back there to tend to them. Then we have the baby bag and our little cooler in the front seat. So that means everything else goes in the back (minus the 3rd row seats which I leave home). I was shocked at how much fit in there, but I had stuff piled to the ceiling. So I am considering selling this roof box and getting something bigger. I need more than $50 for mine if you're interested. But if the neighbor is dumping theirs for $50 I'd say jump on it, they're very useful.

@maxse01 - I've got a slightly bigger Thule box you're welcome to borrow for your trip. It is pretty wide but might be a bit shorter than yours? We fit our tent, 4 sleeping bags, 2 or 3 duffels, our stove and usually a small bag with beach towels and shoes up there.

To the other poster, for $50 jump on it! No wind noise from ours either. It is nice to have and an absolutely necessity for a family of our size.

Thanks Ben! I appreciate the offer.

Brake job and repack bearings. She is ready for a trip to Mexico.

Easy stuff - new gas cap, air filter, wipers front and rear.

Oh and a repair of that pesky secondary air intake system failure at a low low cost of $1958.00

I finally finished up my drawer / sleeping platform. I started with lots of ideas thanks to this site and others, broke out the tape measure, and with my anal sense for details, built it to fit perfectly. I designed it with a couple of panels that unfold forward to lay on the back of the dropped down rear seats, and then the back of the console (on a folded up towel), It gives me about 7 feet of sleeping space. (not alot of headroom though) Later I'll add an inverter to one of the side compartments.

Nicely done!
Do you have a build thread on your drawer / sleeping platform set up?

There is a ~$200 bypass now available that does not code with no down side.

Yes I know about the bypass. I also know that it comes with a disclaimer about it being a violation of federal law to bypass the emissions. Since I do not have the skills to install it myself, I had to go the legal route.

For those with only off road use in mind  here is a link to plug and play version that requires not modification to original wiring and is undetectable.

Ordered tires this morning. Install will be Wednesday. 275/70R18 Toyo OC AT2. Even found a buyer for my Michelin take-offs so even better!

All I have left to do is install my Slee AHC over-ride and find some sliders and I will be done.

Replaced drive belt, oil change, 2 coil packs changed out (PM work), some paint touch up, washed, and torsion bar adjustment

Famous last words.
