Where did you get the trim piece under the grill? Dealer? Also, looks very nice!

Thank you! I probably should've checked with the local dealer here first, but I ordered from PartSouq as pricing seemed reasonable enough:

After 10,853 miles, 3 cracks in my windshield and two oil changes ,I just got back from my Alaska/Arctic circle trip that I took w/ my teenage daughter. These LC are a true testament to great engineering, I had zero issues on my trip. The trip was 5 weeks of absolute heaven. We encounter fires on the Alaska Hwy just after Fort Nelson, camped in places that redefined beauty, drove through feet of snow on the Denali Hwy, hiked the Root Glacier , etc,etc.....View attachment 3939259View attachment 3939260View attachment 3939261View attachment 3939262View attachment 3939263
You should do a thread on this trip. I’d read it. Random photo dumps with loose stories around them are my jam.

Sweet - thanks for pointing to this! The trim under the front grill of my LC is definitely up for replacement. Thought I was going to have to repaint it.

How did install go? I'm a little intimidated by the clip situation. But that's from bad memories of a 1970 Wagoneer and a 1976 K5 Blazer. So I imagine the tech has improved.

Good Job, still amazes me how alluring it is to see new parts, sqeaky clean :) Something EV's will have a hard time replacing ... Nice wheels also, I am looking into Bronze/Gold. But currently no money to upgrade.
Yes it can be quite addicting and expensive! Hahah better than a new car payment though

Any fuel concerns along the way?

So I’ve been putting off fixing my exhaust for over a year now. I’ve been running a flow master 40 series custom set up for like 7ish years, and the tail pipe had rusted completely off a while back and I was essentially just running the flow master and about two inches of pipe. I initially was going to install the BRExhaust kit for my 05 LC—but it was backordered until late August…so I decided to go with the Revel Medallion Trail Hart cat back system. It’s a good looking stainless steel system with a 4 inch (that’s HUGE) tip. The install took about an hour and went together nicely. This is not a quiet exhaust, but there’s no drone or anything on the highway. If you have the windows down, you are gonna hear the V8 eat. Windows up it’s pretty tame, but definitely audible over a stock/near factory set up.

Quite a few things getting done to the LX this week but waiting on a few parts that I had not previously thought I needed:

What started as a simple lower ball joint and UCA job has turned into much more…

Restudding the hubs due to stripping of the studs from spacer nuts

Restudding a few hub flange bolts as they were also stripped

Cleaning and repacking the wheel bearings as it’s been about 70k since the bearings were completely replaced. Grease still looked good but one of those “while I’m in there”

New ABS sensors since the old ones were seized and broke almost immediately upon attempted removal for the LBJ install

Potentially new tie rods… accidentally smacked some threads on one of them going to try a thread file and see if I can get the castle nut back on but if not going to be replacing the set. (If anyone has some tips on getting the tie rod locking nut undone let me know. These things seem to not want to move at all)

SPC upper control arms and 555 lower ball joints… Skeptical about the LBJ’s though as previous owner just replaced 45k miles ago and they were already shot somehow.

Outside of suspension work I’m upgrading a previously installed Blue Sea fuse box to a larger one to install a slim 12in JL audio sub and Wavetech amp convertor with a 50A fuse. Tapping into the existing signal wire from the stock sub box. Seems straightforward but we'll see how it goes.

Front passenger speaker was just refoamed as well.

Front and rear diff’s along with transfer case fluids are going to be drained and refilled once I can get the truck back on the ground.

Replace my original radiator with an all aluminum radiator from CSF. Dropped in nicely and the fan shroud fits nice and tight up against the radiator. Coolant overflow bottle tabs are a little off only allowing 1 bolt to fit without widening one of the holes on the bottle.

Old crusty.

The part comes unpainted, FYI. I had a body shop make me a rattle can of paint for $30. It’s maybe an 8/10 finish. But, as I can barely see it behind my bumper, and it was a huge upgrade over the rusty, bent one my truck came with, that route was good enough for me. If I didn’t have a bumper and this piece was more of a focal point, I would opt for the proper paint route to get to 10/10.

Install wasn’t bad. If you’ve tackled those two, I imagine this would be a breeze.

I guess I could join the 100 crew since I am working on an engine swap on my current 2004 LC, I bought it about two years ago and ended up to be a driveway queen life happens and the quick turn around that I was planning didn't happen. I was able to locate a low mileage engine out of a Sequoia which turned out to be super clean, I finally started taking her apart two weeks ago and hoping to get her back on the road by early fall. I know you guys would like some pictures so here are a few shots in my garage. The previous owner split the bottom of the radiator reason the engine is pretty much a boat anchor I'm hoping I could salvage the heads.

Next potential mod? New H/U - floating or double DIN - haven't decided yet.

Where did you mount the inverter? I just got the same panel and have been thinking about that.

New canvas seat covers for the front row
Finally got around to replacing the valve cover gaskets, not a bad job

And replaced the uni joints in the rear with some Toyo brand ones. Tried GMB last time and they failed really early, so much play in them after only 50,000km

That’s what I thought too but previous owner only got 45k on a set that I just took off and they were completely shot. Hoping it was just a bad batch
Y’all are worrying about the 555s. Just bought a set and waiting for cooler weather to install. Was hoping for at least 100k out of them.
