Making me worried about the new OEM rad I have en route from Serra Toyota! Out of curiosity where did yours fail?
Mine had a hairline crack on the outlet and eventually cracked all along the top and bottom of the screen.

Feels good to check the box on the list of some of the things that have been nagging me for months.

Have had intermittent weeping from my CVs for the last two years and put new bands on them last year, hoping that would fix it but last couple of months the grease was getting slung everywhere. I will keep the old ones as spares and use the re-boot kit from @cruiserpatch . Plus, two thumbs up on the seal tool he sells. Made the installation idiot proof.

Finally decided to do it yesterday and the first one on the left-hand side took four times as long as the one on the right, as I learned from my mistakes. So glad it’s done now.

That Ironman suspension I put on last year has a fatter shock body than the old AHC shock and the sway bar link and had a helluva time getting that first axle out and new one in. Ended up unbolting the lower bolt and was able to get the axle in and out much easier.

Did find both the upper ball joint boots torn so now I will be replacing those as soon as I get the parts.

Squealing auxiliary belts were the quick job of the day, unfortunately the tensioner for the alternator was maxed out and snapped off, seized in the adjuster and all had to be stripped out, drilled, tapped and refitted to get this 10 mins job done.

The PO, my favourite back yard bodger had only gone and fitted the wrong belts.... Too long and in an attempt to tension then had obviously maxed out and mullered the tensioner. Gahhh

Anyway, the correct belts landed from the jungle shop (gates 6220 MC or A10-1000) and those have been fitted along with a new top tensioner bearing for the AC and power heater belt that was left loose and probably because the bearing was a bit grumpy. Cleaned up the tensioner and replaced the bearing with a 6301-2rs from SKF and this 10 minute job has been knocked off with only a bit of swearing.

Tensioner bearing began screaming on a beach trip, and then I turned it the wrong way and broke it.

I peeked into the timing belt and noticed it had what I thought was an original belt at 156k miles. I looked at the crank bolt and someone had been at it with an impact post-factory. So, I thought I'd better just go ahead and tear into it to be certain. I had all the parts do it besides the fan pulley bracket in my parts stash. Got it apart and saw where the water pump had been replaced but not the belt and rollers and hydraulic tensioner. All new Aisin bits and a continental belt.
So, that's out of the way now. The previous owner had no knowledge of the timing belt being done, but he was the 2nd owner. So, from now on I take nothing for granted. Brake fluid change is next.

I finally got around to replacing my UCA's/LCA's, inner & outer TRE's, #2 frame bushings and drive flanges with all new hardware. Everything was a mess, so much play in every joint. Tomorrow I get the alignment done and new tires mounted!

I should have done wheel bearings, but I will tackle that when I do a full brake overhaul next month or so.

This is making me reconsider replacing my radiator of unknown age as PM! Wonder if the OEM ones have gotten worse in quality or if you guys are just unlucky?

I replaced the radiator in my 1999 UZJ100 in 2022 (or was it 2023?) when the plastic top tank changed color from gray to brown. Apparently the discoloration is a warning sign that the top tank is on it's way out. AFAIK it was the factory original part so I am satisfied with the service life! lol

Yes, replaced with OE part.

Scored a set of Australian made Black Widow drawers and fridge slide, a friend had them setup in a 200 Series and wanted to get rid of the whole lot. Got a tidy Japanese made Engel fridge/freezer in the deal too 😎

Had to move the bolt locations about 40mm and modify the wings slightly to fit the wheel arch curves of the 100 but apart from that it was an easy install. Super high quality gear

Another step closer to being setup for 12+ months travelling the Outback later this year. Also added water Jerry cans and a gear bag to the spare wheel

Yup. Here is the link for the TFD70W20 NML75-8399-113. This is the lcd/digitizer in one unit for the 2002 Navigation equipped LX, should work for any year 98-02. 03-up has a separate digitizer from the LCD.
Hi there. New to this great site. I read your post with interest. I had actually bought a TFD70W20 NML75-8399-113 replacement already but it did not work in my Japanese import '02 HDJ100. So I sent the entire unit to a radio/nav specialist who told me the 8399-113 was just an LCD and that I was missing the digitizer: "You've probably noticed the silver bezel that is showing, around the LCD, this shouldn't be on view and covered by the touch conductive sheet, it wouldn't plug into anywhere on the boards, when it is touched it makes the sensors all around the facia p.c.b to react where you are touching". I attach a photo. But someone else told me "Those units have an IR touch screen, so rather than having a glass digitizer it has a circuit board with a bunch of IR lights that ring around the LCD"
If you could tell me that the 8399-113 worked for you without any other separate touch sensitive screen overlay I will check again that I have connected the ribbons correctly. I really want to keep the car original but the chances of getting any such overlay are zero I think and I will be forced to buy some sort of aftermarket upgrade. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Yup! Went with 285/75/18 Toyo AT3's. They are 35.1" and look amazing on the 100! I just got home and initial impressions are, super smooth and very quiet!

Those look FANTASTIC!!!

That's the same tire I'm going to go with after my Falken MT's wear out, but since I'm on steelies 16"s I'm going with the 295/75R16 (33.4 x 11.6)
unless I can upgrade wheels at which point I'll be following suit completely. Wow, those are sharp!
