Yeah, but cut-offs for airflow and oil filter is valuable too. I may order all 3 and decide. Thanks for the reply

You can reach above the skidplate to change the filter, no need to remove it. There's plenty of room, unless you have hulk hands.

Some goodies i'll be installing today, new fuel level sensor and while at it, might as well replace the fuel pump, 218K miles no history of it being changed. The fuel pump is the size of a prescription rx bottle, amazing such a little thing can flow so much.

this a relatively easy job?

Yep, remove 2nd row seat and pull up on the carpet, there is an access hole to get to the fuel pump. Most fuel pumps you have to chisel the lid off but toyota made it easy for us by fastening it with a butt ton of 8mm bolts.

Done that, was thinking it's a complicated job but the only hard part is removing seats. Clean up the top of the tank with a blower or compressed air before removing the pump from the tank. Also, be gentle with plastic locks of the electric connectors and gas lines.

Thanks for the assurance, I'll have to check to see what the costs are for those, might as well do the fuel filter as well since i'll be refreshing the fuel system

I got the pump from amazon and the fuel level sender unit from partsouq. Don't forget the gasket for the tank, see the first two items in here. Better get the pump from partsouq too but here is the amazon link which was right fit and still running - https://amzn.to/3yva5JJ
Good luck

I got over 250k on mine, and just replaced both while I was in there doing the diff, bearings and ball joints, since I knew I’d be wheeling harder than most. One original is still perfect the other has the tiniest play. From what I understand, having the front locker takes some stress out of the whole system when wheeling hard and lifting tires. When in Moab, AHC was on high for hours, but going very slow. I only use it when high clearance is needed now. Didn’t use it for Devils Staircase.
How's about on a 470 where when you are wheeling it's an inch or two up and the rest of the time, not?

I'm replacing the 230k CV axles in front of mine whenever the rest of the parts get in, and had been kind of thinking about adding one of these into future plans too.

Hmmm, i don't remember seeing this little container looking thing inside the fuel tank last time i did my 2007. I guess it's from stopping the gas from sloshing around during hard cornering?

Here's the assembly, replaced the fuel sending unit as well as the fuel pump with a sequoia one. @jerryb swears by it so i'm counting on this to not stall out at high elevations and extreme heat when i travel out west.

So now i've got 2 working fuel pumps, what to do with them? Keep one for a spare?

You know. One other thing here about these pumps.
The one and only thing you need is a good pump that doesn't heat up the fuel, or itself, will run double the demanded psi through the same size orifice, and has a decent check valve in it.
And another,,,, I think the resistor and the two pump speed thing increase the units temp all by itself.
The baffle should keep the pump submerged when you're rallying over rocks.

I just found a good deal on a pump for my spares

How does one know if fuel pump is due for replacement or not?

My fuel gauge started acting up, replaced the pump while replacing level sender unit. Had no issues with the pump though
