Repaired busted seam in front seat. A small tear was repaired about a year ago with fish hook and fishing line (not recommended technique). Once this failed about 2 weeks ago the seam unraveled further.

Name brand needles hoping they would be stronger than no name.
These break if you try bending them to change the curve.

Use the large needle to slightly stretch the existing hole in the leather if it is too small. The needle will find the hole more easily especially when
coming up from underneath.
Start with a length of thread (waxed leather stitching material) 3-4 times the length of the repair.

Not especially pretty but for a couple hours work while quarantined and less than $15 in materials it will do the job.
Recently torn section and previously repaired section did not stitch consistently.
What did you use for “thread” this time?

Made it as far as water pump and belt, and tensioner back on. Not looking forward to the fan bracket tomorrow.
 
new OEM CVs axles ,flanges, 555 LBJs, timken bearings, brakes and rotors and basically everything related.

i had a stoke of genius using these caliper hangers to hold the CV while inserting it and prepping knuckle.

if anyone needs a scale for checking preload, i found this luggage scale at Staples(pre pandemic of course). i like that it's analog.

What stitching method do they use from factory? I've got a section of mine thats pulling apart that I need to repair. What method did you use?
 
Man, all of these projects getting done during quarantine is inspiring! I feel like a bum having only done minor things this week (and taking the truck to my indy for the rest).

Did my standard oil/filter/grease point services. Had my indy do a 5-tire rotation (they have a lift, keeps me from doing jack stand olympics), power steering and trans fluid replacement. Also had them wire in resistors for my LED brake lights, meaning no more rocket booster bulb on the dash!

Brought it home, noticed a persistent misfire that I thought would work itself out again. Nope, finally threw a code and confirmed what I'd been thinking: coils are starting to go. The first was cylinder 5. I bought 4 authentic Densos and will buy 4 more next week to just replace all of them. Truck is at 255k, it's about time.

Anyone care to guess why this coil likely failed? +5 internets to anyone who can spot the issue. This is exactly how it came out of the truck:

isn't there supposed to be a seal around the coil where it goes into the tube? I'm guessing water damage

Yup, noticed it the second I put the two side by side. The rest on that bank have the gaskets, so I can only imagine it fell off during a service. I did the plugs on the truck myself last year, but definitely don't remember this. Guess I need to be more conscious in the future.

Not sure how much this helps but here is a diagram of the stitching pattern I used. I don't know how this "should" be done, this is simply the way I did it.
I'm sure the factory uses a machine with a pattern that would be nearly impossible for me to duplicate by hand.
Solid line is over stitch, dotted line is under.
The red represents the starting thread and how I tied it to the under stitch to secure it. As opposed to knoting the end like you're sewing a shirt.

Snuck away to southern Utah for a week or so of self quarantine in my 100. The truck did great (not surprising), my tent didn't fly off after deleting my roof rack which was nice, and it was great to get some fresh air. All in all a good way to be "quarantined".

Spent the first night a bit too close to the tracks along the Mojave Road. Didn't get a ton of sleep that night.

Making my way back to San Diego, I camped near IH8MUD HQ at a spot recommended by @woody a while back (for those who know this area, the waterfall was riddled with Jeeps, so I chose this more civilized place to spend the night lower down the mountain)

Day 13 of quarantine, borrrrrred, replacing stuff not needing replacement. Reason: Preventine maintenance

New OEM fuel filter, was changed 75K miles ago, decided to do it again.

Then i decided since the fuel filter was off, some gasoline had already spilled and pressure was relieved, i went ahead and replaced the fuel pump as well. Keep the old working one as a spare, it's easy to swap out.

It’s my daughter’s birthday, but it felt like mine this morning when the UPS guy brought me this: completed front diff w/ ARB locker and kit, ball joints, mounting bracket from Torfab (compressor mount for those of us with AHC.), hose kit. Internal diff work completed by Cruiser Outfitters.

what does shipping cost for a project like that? did you change gears as well? how about total cost if you don't mind? was your LC down the whole time or did you drive around in 2wd?

Mine was down, since I had bad CVs anyway, and discovered a bad ball joint. I kept my gearing ratio, since I’m only doing the front. I have 2 other vehicles to drive, so I did not need to temporarily convert to 2wd. Shipping the diff and parts out cost $40 for 45lbs (all in state). Shipping back cost them $115, but one box was 87lbs (complete diff), and the other was far less, with ARB kit and ball joints. They ate $30, and only charged me $85. Total cost for me was about $2300, plus high $700s for a good deal on OEM CVs. That’s all new internals, except for bearing caps; locker, bearings, seals, gears, labor for locker install, air compressor, inflation kit, install kit, Torfab mount (direct from Torfab), c-clips, and ball joints. Cruiser outfitters was very reasonable with prices, and excellent to deal with.

CoNtemplating spark plugs and o2 sensors all around(four). Are these truly 1 banana jobs?
