Man, all of these projects getting done during quarantine is inspiring! I feel like a bum having only done minor things this week (and taking the truck to my indy for the rest).
Did my standard oil/filter/grease point services. Had my indy do a 5-tire rotation (they have a lift, keeps me from doing jack stand olympics), power steering and trans fluid replacement. Also had them wire in resistors for my LED brake lights, meaning no more rocket booster bulb on the dash!
Brought it home, noticed a persistent misfire that I thought would work itself out again. Nope, finally threw a code and confirmed what I'd been thinking: coils are starting to go. The first was cylinder 5. I bought 4 authentic Densos and will buy 4 more next week to just replace all of them. Truck is at 255k, it's about time.
Anyone care to guess why this coil likely failed? +5 internets to anyone who can spot the issue. This is exactly how it came out of the truck:
