Finally got some of the fluids changed today! Ordered crush washers and waited about three weeks for them, then they came a day before our camping trip and had no time. Mobil 1 10w30 in the engine, since I’ve noticed the oil pressure drops below the 1/4 mark while idling in gear sometimes (normal?). Most times while driving it stays right at the 1/4 mark, but cold starts are a little higher and coasting drops it some. New oil for the rear diff and t-case, but could not find that 10mm socket...so the front diff will have to wait. Took it for a shakedown run up into the mountains and saw four elk! Got up to about 9000’ elevation, but no included pics since we only took the DSLR, and not the iPad. One more question for the experts; my tires are pretty shot (not low on tread just wearing weirdly and heavy cupping). We will be doing a significant amount of off-roading but I do not want a ton of noise or huge hit in gas mileage. I have my appt. for a 4 wheel alignment, but can’t seem to narrow down which tires- besides keeping with A/T. Size is gonna be 275/65 18 (ish). Thanks!
Trying to balance the “should do” list with the “wanna do” list: I changed the oil for the first time on this vehicle (dealer mech decided that “as tight as I can freaking get it” was the appropriate torque for the oil filter and the drain plug); and swapped out the heater tees. Indeed, one broke (closest to left fender wall) and the other is pristine. They’re stainless now, so hoses will be somewhere in my future. Also checked out a mild 4wd track in the S. Platte area above Cheesman Reservoir. Next time I’ll go with a map and a fly rod. View attachment 1964031
Next up is a set of Drifta style drawers. Gathering supplies for that. Also bought a sheet of black King Starboard for a tailgate compartment lid. Time to get all of this loose stuff stowed away!
Worst one was closest to the left fender wall. I.e. rightThose two are in significantly different conditions. Do you happen to remember which T is the one from the right and left (when facing from the front of the car)?
Getting closer on my rear kitchen/drawer setup. Gotta' build the side wings, drawer fronts and then carpet and finish the wiring for the outlets and compressor.
