Finally got the sliders.

They are rocky road brand. They are really well-made and heavy duty.

Finished upgrading my terminals to mil-spec. The OEM fuse block bolts to the positive at 90* to the bolt, so I bought, drilled, and cut a 1/2" copper bar to keep things aligned:

I added 4 new zerks... in the rain.

I also replaced the F’d up bearings on my rear bumper. It’s smoothe as butter now, but a freaking PITA to finish.

What is that the red oil that is over the terminal?

Well, today I changed the oil in the differentials and transfer case with Mobil 1 Delvac 75w90 synthetic. It's not a hard job but boy is it messy and smelly. I forgot how much gear oil smells. I got the oil by the gallon and used a suction gun to fill. Of course it leaked everywhere while trying to fill the diffs. Maybe it's better with quart squirt bottles. I think my garage is going to smell for a while. There were a lot of shavings on the magnets of the differentials but no chunks. The transfer case was clean. I think I'll pay to have that job done next time...

Chris

Did the same a few weeks ago, and I am sure it will be much easier the next time for both of us :). I used the quart bottles with a little $5 pump that screws onto the bottle and that wasn't too bad. Of course I spilled some in the drive way when the TC oil shot over the catch pan, oops!

Thats a battery terminal protectant spray. Keep water debris etc off and seals in the goodness.
gotta get me some of that. my terminal is all f'ed up from water crossings.

BG sells a kit. Spray on the terminal clean it all off with a brush and then spray a little bit of the red gunk on after your done to keep it happy. The first part of the cleaner spreay turns yellowish red in the presence of battery acid. So it neutralizes it and cleans it and the red spray is a sealer of sorts.

Changed the PCV grommet and hose on the driver's side. Some oil was leaking from the grommet, it wasn't flexible anymore and the hose was cracked on both ends. Had a new hose for passenger side, but was wrong one (mid year change). Since I had the air box thingy off, pulled the AF sensor and cleaned it up, and the throttle body too. Don't know what difference any of that will make but I'll feel better - haha. Added a little more coolant, it was down to the fill mark, think some more air is getting out after I changed T's and hoses and coolant flush couple of weeks ago. Right at 215,004 miles now.

Still debating if i will tow my teardrop trailer since Mrs will not be coming

You’ll wished you left it at home after dragging it over the passes to get to colorado and into silverton.

This post is about what I didn’t do to my truck this week.

I planned to install @LandCruiserPhil’s “electric condenser fan kit” before leaving for a trip this weekend. Because USPS does some crazy stuff sometimes, it arrived a few hours after I left.

Hit 95 degrees today, and while parked in the heat (truck running, eating a quick lunch) I got to experience what it was like WITHOUT the electric condenser fan. Why did Toyota stop including this fan? Why?! I started driving around just to get the AC to cool down.

I wish I had been able to install the kit before we left. Anyway, it’s at home waiting for me. I plan to install it before we leave for our next trip next Saturday.

See thread for more info on the electric condenser fan:

Finally got around to putting in the PFran interior LED lights... One of the most reasonably priced and significant improvements I've made to my LC.

2nd Battery Install, took two weeks total waiting for parts I forgot/didn't realize I needed, etc.

Sleet tray, 0/1 welding cable, and all blue sea components. Used pretty much all of a 4' angled bracket and some steel plating to mount to factory fender bolt holds and the slee holder. Will have to rethink things if I ever put in a compressor.

Took some short cuts (like cutting apart the factory ground cable) that I hope to go back and address, but right now I have other things to do before I leave for HIH on Friday!

The only thing I am really using it for ATM is to power an inverter and an always on 12v I wired up this morning (for a dashcam). Also for peace of mind that I won't have a dead battery when I wake up in some remote location. My primary battery is aging, I figured I can get a couple more years out of it this way.

12v and Inverter mounting. Gotta keep all my Milwaukee accessories running!
