Four months & 4,500 miles later the baseline is done.

DIY maintenance
- Idler pulley
- Alternator
- Mobil1 fluids for front/rear diff, transfer case, motor, steering (full flush)
- Front & rear pads, rear rotors, DIY brake flush (2X)
- Heater Ts
- pfran CV clamps
- greased driveshaft / U-joints
- re-sealed leaking third brake light
- MAF / TB cleaning
- Seafoam top end cleaning

Local dealership finished the rest up (bummer!)
- Timing belt & water pump (tech claimed the belt showed signs of dry rot)
- Serpentine belt (cracking)
- Thermostat
- Tranny pan drain / fill (3.8 qts)
- Fuel filter
- Fuel system treatment
- Re-packed front wheel bearings w/ Mobil1 grease + replaced washers gaskets & seals (tech stated the grease was pretty burnt-up & some scoring on the inner oil seal)
- Coolant flush

All that's left are application of 3M side moulding tape, chip repair, & bending back the rear bumper crash pad + POR15 treatment where the pad contacted the rear PS quarter.

The truck had 72k when I got it. The next stop should get me close to rolling over to 80k - Austin, TX to Grand Lake, CO! With me will be a pregnant wife, a 3 year old, and hope. Lord help us all.

I made a hi lift jack mount for the stock crossmembers. I got a basic Jeep hood mount kit at 4 Wheel Parts and drilled holes through the crosmenber and used longer bolts to mount it. Feels really solid.

Completed the sleeping platform. Leave for the Sierra's in 5 days!

That sure is nice work, do you have any details on how you put it together?

Thanks to @TheAshenWolf for the inspiration. SIA for the crappy iPhone pics but that’s about all I use these days.
Looks great! The carpet looks nice.

We'll be using ours for the first time (other than my garage tests) in a pilgrimage to The Land Cruiser Heritage Museum next month. What we spend in gas, we save in lodging!

New shoes - Finally ditched the PO’s 16” winter tires for some 275/70/18 WildPeak A/T3W's. Found a nice deal on some Tundra take-offs, then added a little PDip, and some black lugs. I think she looks alright.:D

Also did a little mud flap trim and mounted that ARB awning.

1998 LC, 327k miles

Replaced rear shocks. Plan to get to the fronts before too long. I think these were original.

I did the 1-3/4” hole saw, hole in the floor method. I found plugs from Body Plug - 1-3/4" SM HOLE - 2-1/8" HEAD - RUBBER

One note: The top nut on the rear shocks was 19mm not 22mm like most are reporting.

Came home to surprise on my front porch!

I can’t wait to get these on. I can’t get over how massive these things are!

Thanks so much @reevesci for getting these out to me in time for HIHs. Awesome customer service and GREAT communication. The best buying experience I’ve had in a very long time.

If you need any suspension parts hit @reevesci up!

Small project today. My 2003 LC just turned over 195K and today after work I did the oil change myself for the first time. I'm fully capable of my own repairs/service but I guess I never had the time before and oil changes were free from the dealer since I bought it there new in 2002. But I've made the decision never to take it back there again after my last fiasco with a front axle replacement (very expensive aftermarket axle with a vibration). I have to say that an oil change on this vehicle is one of the easiest I've ever done (and I've done a lot in the past). Although whoever put the filter on the last time must have used a wrench or something because I had to use a big pair of channel locks to get that thing off. Filled it with 10w30 Mobil 1 synthetic (very hot summers here).

Next project for tomorrow afternoon before towing my boat up a 5000 ft mountain to our family cabin for the 4th is to change the oil in the diffs and transfer case. I think it has been many 10's of thousands of miles since that was last done (oops).

After that will be to replace the two aftermarket front axles with OEM in the next few weeks.

Chris

Preparing for HiH8 so I took the LX to my Mechanic to have the Timing belt, water pump and thermostat replaced, new transmission, transfer case and differential fluids. New valve cover gaskets and Radiator flush. New 8 Denso ignition coils.
Need to install brake controller. Still debating if i will tow my teardrop trailer since Mrs will not be coming

Well, today I changed the oil in the differentials and transfer case with Mobil 1 Delvac 75w90 synthetic. It's not a hard job but boy is it messy and smelly. I forgot how much gear oil smells. I got the oil by the gallon and used a suction gun to fill. Of course it leaked everywhere while trying to fill the diffs. Maybe it's better with quart squirt bottles. I think my garage is going to smell for a while. There were a lot of shavings on the magnets of the differentials but no chunks. The transfer case was clean. I think I'll pay to have that job done next time...

It's much easier after the first time! I just did my new truck's gear oils & it took no time ... exception was a trip to the dentist after knocking my front tooth with a breaker bar (no cracks yay!). My wife had a field day with that.
