Finally built the land cruiser bunk bed! Put it together this weekend, mostly by myself, was a fun project but fricking heavy! LC on 32" tires with roughly .5- 1" lift all around fit nicely with a couple inches to spare.

Dannmar 7x is the model. Cheapest lift I could find with the Automotive lift certification. Pretty stout unit. Lifts the lc without any trouble.

Was a super cheap way to get another garage bay compared to building an actual garage.

Now I just need to get some eye candy up there!

I have an "Ultimate driving machine" next to my LC100. Is that what you are looking to put on the bunk with yours?

Oh nice, which one?

I just sold our 2013 335i MSport about a month back to make room for my fantasy. A lightly used Porsche 997.2 S. Hoping the winter months see some price drops so I can finally pull the trigger!

That being said I'm still a huge BMW fan and probably always will be. My wife still drives one and lately she's been talking about an X5 diesel which would be totally fine with me!

I have a 2008 335i N54. Modded with my current tune at 450whp 490wtq. Complete sleeper. No aesthetic mods only functional performance mods. :). I love it. My first BMW. I drove a new 340i, don't like the steering. I do have my eyes on the new M2 :D. I am purposely not going to test drive it, because I already know I will have to have it! I would love to have a Porsche too. But I am not ready to go there...yet. my fantasy Porsche is probably a 993 RS America :steer:, speed yellow please. Good luck Porsche shopping!

Funny, I had a 2007 335 in college that was FBO, with e85, inlets and MHD custom tune courtesy of Ken Atkinson. It was also fairly stock outside and I surprised lots of exotic cars with it during my ownership. Loved that car and regret selling it! I had a 2003 330i ZHP prior to that car which I also liked a lot. I also drove a f30 335 and did not like it at all. Since selling my 335 when I moved north, I've been looking for another sports car to get in addition to my LX.

Very cool, I cut my teeth on an all stock 2008 335i with the n54 in the mountains of Colorado many years ago and that pretty much set the course for turning me into a huge BMW fan boy. Was an amazing car! Agreed on the F30 steering, not as direct as the E90 setup. The electric steering really neuters it in the F30. That's the reason I'm moving past the F30 335i. Was fast but so clinical, lacked emotion even with every performance option available. In all honesty I've bounced between a new M2 or used 911 over and over again. I keep telling myself I have to experience rear engine ownership at least once in my life.

With al these BMW's we could start a 335i thread on ih8mud. I am also driving a 2008 335xi, while rebuilding the engine of the 100. These 335's are rockets compared to a Land Cruiser 100. Very nice cars to have together with a Cruiser, but I would never choose a 335 over a Cruiser.

Nice ride. So you must have sold your 335 pretty recently then? Since MHD has only been around for like two years (I was one of the very first beta testers). Ken Atkinson is a good dude. I am running a Wedge right now :D. The look of utter shock and dismay on the face of the drivers of the unwitting exotic car poser here in LA when I smoke them is priceless!

Yes, the steering feel in the E90 series is magical in my opinion. Hard not to be a fan boy. You cannot go wrong either way between the M2 and just about any 911!

It is a very nice contrast when you get directly out of the 100 and get down into the 335. 100= High, merely adequate power, a little tippy, slow reflexes, very comfortable, ultra reliable and inviting. 335= Very low, very direct, questionable reliability, good power (probably too much in my case) a little cold to the touch at first and all about the business of driving! I agree, if I had to choose the 100 would stay and the 335 would go. But like an amazing former lover, I would look back longingly!

Wait...I neglected to address the Elephant in the room. Rebuilding the engine in the 100?

Yes, it is the 1HD-FTE diesel, but the engine failed after 865.000miles so that is very impressive. The problem was a faulty injector, which made a hole in one of the pistons. The engine was in such a good state that we only had to replace the cilinder and an injector. We also replaced most bearings, but that wasn't even needed. Only the cylinder head was really dirty due to a faulty turbo in combination with the EGR. So we also cleaned the head and bought a new turbo. I hope to have engine built in before 2017. After all it was a lot of work, but I am sure the car could easily reach 1 million miles after the rebuild. And in the meantime I can play with the 335xi.

865,000 miles! Nice! How many of those miles are from you? I have 250k miles on my 4.7 now, feels like it has 50k on it, I think I should easily hit 600k...maybe more?

My dad bought the Cruiser with 250K in 2004, and my dad drove the rest of the miles (most of the time with a trailer). I drive the car for two years now, and only drove 12K with it.
I've heard someone in the US that hit 1 million miles with a Tundra with a 4.7. So 600K is certainly possible.

Replaced my fuel filter yesterday and decided to cut it open to see just how bad it looked. I WAS SHOCKED.

Apparently it's never been changed in its 260K miles.... :bang:
