I broke the 200K mark... And moved into a new house. Maybe I will finally be able to really get going on the maintenence and mods now that I have my garage and tools back

Dude! No way!!!!

You sold the Tacoma, I can't believe it but then you go and do something like buy an LX470 and totally redeem yourself.

I'm the same Greenbean from ExpoPortal and TW.

I still have my little Tacoma but also scored a very well maintained 2000 LC.

Good to see you here man!

So random dude, it's a small Toyota world. I recognized your profile pic. Yeah, would have been cool to keep the Tacoma but I really didn't need it. What are your plans for your LC?

I ordered a set of TJM skid plates from Dirty Parts here in LA, to protect the engine and transmission sumps. Parts came in one day. Installed them today. Took about 2 hours because I had to drill and re-tap some bolts that the PO or whomever had broken. There were four broken off bolts when I started, I was able to repair two of them very nicely. The other two will have to wait because the steel was way to hard in those areas for my cheap drill bits and 12v cordless drill. Fit and finish on the skid plates was very good to excellent. One or two of the holes were slightly off, but nothing to impede the install. I think because TJM designs things for different Land Cruiser configurations around the world, the access hole for the oil drain is in the wrong spot, so I will just make another hole. Also there is not a hole to drain the ATF, I will make a hole for that as well. I am going to touch up the new holes I made with some Rustoleum tomorrow.

Yesterday, in anticipation for this install, I ordered some new bolts from Toyota for a portion of the skid plate that required using the existing bolts. The new bolts were a much more stout part.

Also replaced and extended the front differential breather (rear will be tomorrow). Secured the end of the breather line near the OEM air box.

You'll also need a hole for access to front propeller shaft lube points! Or are you planning on pulling #2 shield each 5k miles.

Finally got around to swapping Cruiser Yard liftgate onto my son's vehicle (I like the black pearl emblems):

We also addressed the peeling clear coat and thin paint at the rear edge of the roof (we'll probably extend this to the back edge of the sunroof at some point in the future):

Replaced the heater T's on my LX, and starting to unravel the mysteries of the old aftermarket alarm system in my LX.

Black pearl like gold emblems are no longer available, nice find. Looks really good, nice work!

New shoes! Blizzak DM-V2 @ 265/70/18 for 32.6" diameter. Found a set of remanufactured Tundra steel wheels on eBay for $55 each, shipped. It was -2 degrees this morning in Maine and we have 3-6 inches of snow in the forecast for tomorrow and I can't wait for it to get here:)

Today no work on the LX but I did finish reading this whole thread. Great info and now I'm running outside to check my heater Ts.

Fabrication work almost finished up, picking it up tomorrow and then to the paint shop.

Diff drop all mocked up and ready to go into production.
Just make sure you include the tapped holes for the skid plate - some manufacturers don't, and if you have OEM or aftermarket plates they won't attach.

I've done a lot, took a bit more then a week, LX470 to build or not to build... while loving the ride. It became labor of love, and I think the love shinned through, don't you!

It was like and attraction I hated to let go. Even my girl friend forgave the time I gave and loved her in the end.
What a sweet ride the WhiteLady was:

It was kind of crazy comforting thought I had, of someone buying as gift. As drove and recondition the WhiteLady over last 9 months. Thinking her listed near Christmas, as good timing for someone to buy as a gift. Plus some extra cash for the holidays would be nice.

But never imagined it would sell within 5 minutes of listing, this was insane. Then to learn a needy family of 4 all cried when they received as a gift, just warmed my heart.

WhiteLady once again will save a family's faith, if nothing else. Just as she saved her first family of four, carrying them too Colorado from the devastation of hurricane Katrina.

Merry Christmas to the new owners, may she bring you joy.:steer::santa::cheers:

No worries... I can't use a tapped thread with my design like all the others out there. I went with a welded Grade 10.9 metric standoff instead.
