Finally rebuilt my master cylinder and I have brakes again! I am so excited I am going to celebrate!

Sorry, just so happy not to have to double pump the pedal and have a soft pedal everytime I try to stop! Woooohooooo!

What kind of feedback were you getting on the pedal during the first and subsequent second press?

The first pump on mine there is ore travel than the second. The second press feels better and overall bute from the brakes is better. I've bled the system thoroughly multiple times. I think it has behaved this way since day 1 (new).

Today I testfitted my new bullbar from RockArmor. As it is forbidden to have them on in Switzerland, i cant drive around with it. As soon as the car will go to Africa for our Overlandtrip (see link below), i will mount it. Looking forward to it!

That is how it was. First pump the pedal would go very low, the second would be higher and more pressure. Now the pedal is better than the second pump on the first shot. The rebuild kit is like 50 bucks from toyota and there is a master cylinder DIY theead on here that is spot on.

Replaced heater T's and installed a new complete brake assembly courtesy of @beno! Great service and quick shipping....install was straight forward too due to all the fantastic write ups here on MUD!

@ 30mph plastic or steel I'm pretty sure the only crush zone is you.... Just another reason to monitor our law makers who have knee jerk reactions to a current event. think of a whole industry that the jobs that go with it that does not exist in Switzerland because of a pretty useless law... I would doubt this law has saved even one life in Switzerland...
next will be huge required puffball bumpers

Definitely makes a big difference in pedestrian safety. Typical pedestrian auto collision is not at 30 mph. It's at 0-5 due to low speed limits where pedestrians are and braking prior to impact. You'd have to not see the pedestrian at all to hit them at 30 which is almost never the case.

Now imagine being hit at 2 mph with a steel bar with lots of protruding fixtures vs a smooth, malleable plastic bumper. It makes a huge difference which you could find auto fatality data to support.

It's not some liberal agenda to stop the 10 jobs that would maybe be created for bumper makers in Switzerland. It's the same liberal agenda that brought you seat belts, air bags, DUI laws, etc. which helped raise your life expectancy by 25 years in the past 100 years.

Thank you Ramathorn for the explanations, didnt think there are people who do not understand the idea behind the law. You made it quite clear.

Did Mobil 1 oil change and rear brake job with EBC sport rotor kit.

Busy week:
  • 4 wheel alignment after new tires
  • Spot checked the AC for leaks and topped off the lowside pressure.
  • Power Lifted this bad boy into place:

Also had the dealership cover under warranty (2003 LX) the following:
  • 2 x new front doors actuators (no more half open locks triggering the dang horn alarm in a parking lot or leaving my doors unlocked completely)
  • 2 x new power fold in mirrors (no more sporadic one side only operation )
  • Door window calibration (no more auto regress like a scared weasel.)

$2945 in parts and labor, I paid $50 dollars.

National Auto Care Gold Warranty for 3 years was $1700

They have covered over 3x that amount (replaced the Tranny, no not Sheela) in service/ parts for my LX. I have no affiliation with this company other than the purchased service and it has been fantastic so far; I highly recommend them.

I know it sounds like a douche bag bragging about this stuff but this was my (and the wife's) number 1 barrier for buying a 13 year old vehicle and this stuff does not always work out in my favor. I am also sharing the experience for the fence sitters out there that cant justify the potential parts/labor wager on what is awesome vehicle.

Sounds like an awesome warranty. Does the warranty apply to any Toyota / Lexus dealership? Do you have to verify coverage / get pre-approved prior to each repair?
