Scanguage 2 installed and secured.

Currently these are the gauges I’m using. Open to suggestions on more critical components to monitor than the HP.

I don't know if these codes work for a 2000+ model. They seem to work for my 1999 Tacoma and 1999 LX470. I have one Scangauge that I move between the 1999 model Toyota trucks. The Book of Codes has been copied from Tacoma World. The 1st Gen members maintain this list.

I recommend keeping an eye on the engine coolant temp and transmission temp. Those two are most critical for your trucks wellbeing.
Fuel trims and mixture ratios are very good numbers to look at when troubleshooting emissions codes but not super critical for day to day use, IMHO

Yep.. It gets to be overwhelming. Need to keep your eyes on the road.

Truck started sounding like a diesel with a loud tapping noise coinciding with RPM. No codes tripped. Suspected it was this vacuum switch valve since I forgot to reconnect it after changing out my coils. Replaced it and reduced the noise significantly, but I still get a light tap that I never had before. Also threw in a bottle of 44K into the gas tank.

Only other switch I see in the diagram is the Evap OBD pressure switch valve. I’ll have to do more digging.

Also getting a slight misfire in cylinder 8 that is not tripping a CEL, but is showing real-time in the OBD scanner…hoping it’s just a bad plug and not a bad coil.

Rain finally stopped for us so I took this opportunity to install my Hella dual tone horns.

Install is pretty straightforward, Toyota just had a + to the factory horn and - was just grounded to the chassis via the mounting bracket.

Started planning for the Blue Sea fuse box in the engine bay, thinking this is a good location. Going to mock it up with some cardboard and set it up so I can use those factory screw holes.

Agreed. ATF, coolant, and voltage in my opinion are top 3. The 4th spot I’ll usually rotate between a couple different ones like MPG, RPM, etc…

I posted the list so they will be searchable if someone on Mud should decide to dig into more than the standard-issue set. I just use the Engine and ATF coolant temps and voltage with MPG on a trip. Now we have them if we need them.

Same, except for my 4th I like to monitor tire pressures. Although I learned recently that only 06 and 07 have tpms.

Golden needed a couple of things:
1. Put on the winter tires, nothing beats a cruiser with proper winter tires in wintery conditions
2. Replaced the driver side wheel speed sensor. It was messed up during a recent ball joint job.
3. Noticed a rattling sound from exhaust, turns out the post-cat o2 sensor is loose! One of the nuts has completely walked off and the other one was only finger tight!!

Does anyone know the nut size for o2 sensor?

Replaced inner tie rods yesterday as a temporary fix. Went snow wheeling today. Upon doing the tie rods found my right boot was full of PS fluid. Never leaked out of the boot. Will be replacing the steering rack with new oem soon.

Already pmd @daohaus , but in case anyone else is wondering, the Overland Equipped 4Runner mount works great there.

This is more of a what have you done over the last month post...but had the time before starting a new job to get some big items checked off.

-Switched from 275 70 18 to 295 75 16 (ko2s). This is the biggest size I would want to go without a regear. Truck sees a lot of highway miles at high elevation and it frequently drops down to 4th, even on the flats.
-Painted 16" LX wheels in a gunmetal color (could have done a better job here, but was in a rush)
-Installed 2x KC Pro6 sae driving lights (didnt love the beam pattern at first, but they actually work pretty well in practice considering they are street legal. I've been treating them as high beams.)
-Installed switch for lights in BenCC's make 6 with 2x powered usb's (wired directly to battery with on/off power switch). Love the location as it's easy to find quickly by feel.
-Replaced Rad, hoses, thermostat, and flushed system. Used CSF rad as recommend, purchased locally from Advanced Auto.

What a beauty, I have the same color!

I'm looking at these exact tires 295 75 16, how has your experience been these last few years?

The one on the left got new battery terminals and needs CV axles installed. Also needs new tires and the cruise drops out. The one on the right is....perfect. I may sell it for a profit and buy a 60's or an 80's. My GF took these pics at our house because we never get good pictures of them, and it always rains in Kentucky....

I mostly like the tire/size! They tram line a bit more then a 275/285, but nothing wild. I regularly run them around 18psi and they have lots of cushion. With spacers I rub slightly on the rear fender liner, but no rub without spacers. Wear has been pretty good, I think I’ve already put 35k on them with lots of dirt and plenty of highway. And they do look the part.

I do wish there were a few more options available in that size though, I think I’d like to try a C load and I would say the k02s have only adequate winter performance.
