Long weekend. A little 40 time. Progress in the right direction.

Probably spent 8-10 hours total on it this weekend. Took the family to winery last night for pizza and chill time.

Wiring 99% finished, need to run wires into the cab for OBD2 connector/ check engine light and mount the ECM to have it complete.

Passenger fender mocked in, air box sorted, air compressor location planned.
Transfer case crossmember mounts built and tack welded in place.
Top plate fully installed on transmission.

Some great threads going on here in the 40 section with ideas I don’t need to address yet.

Today was dad day with the kids. Thankful to be able to spend time with them and just hang out.

Next plan is to sort the fuel tank install, get it lined out then tear everything down and finish weld mounts, seal up, clean up, then piece it all back together. Sounds like a weekend worth of work right?? 😂😂

Only picture of 40 progress this weekend. Not quite exact ECM location but very close.

Zero day. Wife was in the gym when I got home and lunch and we had been getting our ass kicked at work with post holiday busy. So I sat and ate while we talked and caught up on the day.

Tonight I cleaned up the garage in preparation for tear down. Organized all the tools back, swept and stashed away parts. Still waiting on a couple odds and ends to finalize some designs.

Planning on tackling the fuel system next and then will tear down. That way if there are any random parts I don’t have I’m not stuck waiting on them.

Organization is key. That being said, my garage is a hot mess- two project trucks and a mtb addiction I gave to my kid. And anything else that gets shoved in there.

This has been a 45 year problem for me. It’s starts out clean and tidy….then I start something simple and don’t put stuff back. And so it begins.
I have an almost decent photographic memory… I know where almost everything is and easily visualize the exact spot in the picture in my head to go and retrieve it. Then, the s#!t hits the fan because I moved it, didn’t put it back or left it somewhere under something else. The image appears in my head and I look in disbelief that it’s missing

Frustrating

I’ve been very tempted into the mtb world. I can definitely see us falling off the deep end into it some day
My friend and fellow enabler has a saying: As addictive as herion and twice as expensive. Our kids started out racing bmx and now race DH/Freeride together. The rabbit hole goes as deep as you let it…

Now get back to work on the swap. It’s sooooo worth it.

After selling the FJ-40, I've been missing the adventure. I finally pulled the trigger on something the family can enjoy together....

Its no 40, but it'll do what i want, and the wife won't complain quite so much!

The FJ is looking great, I'm incredibly happy that she's getting her second (third? fourth?) life.

Yes!!

I wanted a 570. Ended up with a built 2008 Landcruiser instead.

So 2 cruisers in the household.

Friday night I did an overnight with my 3 year old and 200 to go pick up 40 parts. 4 hours each way, camped along a free lake met a mud member Saturday morning. (Thanks Jason!)
Acquired a hard top, a half door, a mostly whole door, two soft doors, glass- for the price of gas and my time. Sounds awesome right? Well overall it was.

However Ate something Friday night that did not agree with me. I woke up Saturday feeling like I had fallen out of the tent, and ate dog s*** while doing it.

Grabbed parts. Wondered an hour or so toward home and fed little one breakfast. Ate 2 eggs which took me about 30 minutes, drank a cup of watererd down coffee, got a sprite and fuel then hit the road.

Uncomfortable rib pain, shooting pain down my leg, long drive home.
Stopped and got pie for the family, made the most of it and genuinely had a great time with my daughter and her infectious laugh and smiles.

We Got home, went to grandmas house where my better half was and I stayed for about 30 minutes. I ended up going back home and taking a nap on the back porch under a warm blanket and it was 82 outside.

Saturday kicked my ass.

Got up, put kids to bed, crashed again. Slept not so great up and down.

Sunday rolls around and I feel 75% better. At least I feel like I can attempt to eat. I have a slice of toast and banana.

I had plenty of toilet time Sunday to read, thankfully @archie73 and his 40 thread needed reading. I’m about halfway through.

I did manage to get the yard mowed.pool clean, and played in the pool with the family.

About 4:00 yesterday I decided I would work on 40 for a while. As best i remember I’m ready for tear down.

So I tore it down, confirmed a few things before I did. And dismantled it. As you’ll notice I’m missing a tire. I originally bought the Mickey MT for my 200 but put them on the 40 for a short time. Well Thursday I decided I would take them to work and start swapping out. So this complicated things, however I just stuck a jack under it and rolled and off we went.

Long story short. My cleanse has probably lost me 10 lbs, my 40 is in pieces and I got to enjoy time with the family. Solid win of a weekend, although I didn’t really need to drop the weight.

I told myself when this started I wanted to be on the road by Father’s Day. Well not sure that’s happening unless I decide to work until midnight every day this week.

However I’m thankful to have the time that I have had to mess with it.

There are still a few details to iron out, however it’s about to go back together for the last time. Hopefully for a long time.

Reseal engine. Assemble clutch components. Order master cyl. T case seals. Driveshafts to driveline shop. Clean up firewall mess. Finish weld a lot of things. Fuel filler neck. Fuel sender install.

Along with about 75 other things on my list.

Slave to the projects is no fun. Mine take longer than usual and while I nibble on life along the way.

At nearly 70, a lot of things don't get done in time or fast enough anymore. Fortunately, I don't care anymore - stress is the biggest killer - it works on you even when you sleep. Things get done on their own timeline.

Stress gets me in alot of ways. However the 40 is a great stress reliever.
