Me too. It is a good read. What an around-the-world adventure. They travelled 42,252 miles in a stock 1965 soft top Toyota FJ40, towing a trailer. 581 days across deserts, and barely drivable roads.

It’s been a weird week. I haven’t drove the 40 since last Saturday. I’ve just needed the truck every day this week.

I did order a couple tires for test fit and working on painting one of the Fifteen52 wheels the correct color. I need to order a set of hubcap clips and figure that out.

Tire on the left is a 35-10.50-17 Kenda MT, right is a 285/70r17 Boss MT. I really wish they offered the Boss MT in a 285/75-17

Yesterday at lunch I decided to start the 40 and let it run a bit. Fired right up and I messed with the speedo while it was idling.

I found the self inflicted speedometer failure. I would venture to say I have a failed cable or a stripped gear.

Oops.
(if you can’t tell in the potato picture, the cable is basically in a knot)

Get you some of that good time with the kiddo.
That’s the best stuff in the world.

Man I screwed that up with my first marriage. I worked like a dog to have things we didn’t need. I didn’t spend enough time with her or the kids. My ex is a great mom and we get along better than most.

Now we (different gal) have little but at the same time I have way more fulfillment.

I definitely prioritize and soak in time with the kids much more now. 3 kids and another due in Feb

It’s too good and gone too fast.
Mine are still at home and I realized in time to make every effort to make every moment count.

Spent some time trying to figure out the direction on wheels and tires for my rig.

This is a 35-10.50-17 Kenda MT on a 17x8.5 “0” offset Fifteen52 wheel I painted gloss machinery gray.

Tire on the passenger front is the same wheel with a not so great 315/70-17

That 35x10.50 looks great imo!
And yea, the hubcap, you’re spot on.

Also just wait til grandkids. Two great boys (blame their mom), close, now both with kids.
It does go by fast though, make every moment count.

My daughter asked to do dinner tonight.

Washed the rusty frame schizzle off and hit the road to Minneapolis - she is 22 now and it is still just as precious and worth stopping the world spin … even if for a few hours
