I f*cked up big time. Likely out for the season, at least until I can find a suitable place to tear it all apart.

That is a bummer. I did this job recently on a VVTI I am swapped into my 80.

I recently parted out an VVTI engine that experienced a TB failure going down the road. It was catastrophic, hole in block, destroyed heads, broken valves, etc..

I read your thread and know you don’t plan to dig into this soon but I would love to see what you find as you do. Reading you have done the TB job three times makes me wonder if this had anything to do with it or if something else happed at the same time. It would be a good learning experience note it.

She's 5'7" and really likes the ergonomics of dealing with firewall stuff that way 😁.
that's the only real way "more comfortable way" to change spark plugs in a 4th gen Fbody. got to climb in the engine bay! . lol

i put the SLP Loudmouth 2 resonator back on (dumped after the axle now).. much better than the Loudmouth 1

It will happen as soon as I find the space to do it. I would have already started if I could have. Being that I'm very new to the area and I don't have the ability to pick up a house with a garage any time soon we might be waiting a while.

Pushed this old girl out from behind the house yesterday. Today I pulled the seats and fuel tank and started ordering parts.

This whole motorcycle thing has snowballed around here. It started out with my son buying a dual sport bike.

I really was content with never riding on the road again until I told my wife that I wish my little Sportster was running so I could ride with him. That's when she told me that I should buy a bike. Then it was over and I needed a bike again. I bought the BMW last week.

Saturday, I told her that we needed helmets (I have never owned a helmet for a road bike). We went into the city and both bought helmets.

On the way home she asked about the "girl bike", I call it that because it is a purple 883 Hugger. She asked how hard it would be to get it on the road again. I told her it would't be hard and she asked of she could ride it.

That's SWEET! 👍 👍 👍

I've contemplated getting an R-series for a LONG time but just never pulled the trigger. Now with my RA, I never know when my hands, shoulders, knees and feet are going to be in a good mood or revolting which would complicate safely piloting a MC.

This Toyota was bought as a "project" aka yard art. It ran, but barely. Got it home, pulled the spark plugs, got out the leakdown tester, and figured out the engine was a real mess. One cylinder registered 50% leakage, and this was the best one. Two other cylinders registered greater than 90% leakage on the gauge. Air was escaping the two cylinders as fast as it was going in. Here is the head from the engine:

Problems: Shims under all the camshaft caps. Three aluminum head threads for camshaft cap bolts stripped. Threads re-tapped to 3/8" x 16. Cheap hardware store bolts used. They decked the head and removed 0.080" (2 mm) aluminum. Found two head gaskets. They created scrap aluminum.

Piston from the same engine:

One of the reasons why this cylinder wasn't sealing. More scrap aluminum.

It has been fun so far. It is a whole lot different than riding a cruiser. Taking a little bit to get used to.

What an incredible waste of time for whoever did that last rebuild. Do it right or do it twice. That’s what’s I’ve learnt through the years 😅

I am doing the 2nd rebuild and it is taking longer. I am having to find the causes of the problems created by the 1st rebuild. Unfortunately, good parts are scarce. It is an obscure, 40-year-old Toyota engine.

I’ll bet that’s what some of mine look like too I break everything I touch 🙂

I'm working on seeking forgiveness for forgetting about tonights camping trip i posted

Just about got the wife's gift for Mother's day finished. It had been sitting in the trees behind the house for 13 years. New tires to be mounted this week. I'll pull the rear fender and finish polishing the paint when I take the tire off. First picture is the before. 8600 miles 2002 Sportster Hugger.

Swapped LX450 wheels/tires (Bfg 285/75r16) over to the 1993. Didn’t want the BFGs to get sun rot or flat spots, so I’m gonna run them for a while since they’re basically new.

While the 60 was up on a lift for a transmission fluid/oil change, I noticed one of the front leafs is broken by the shackle from corrosion. Not sure when this happened but it definitely isn't new.

It's given me some newfound urgency to throw on the dobinsons kit I bought. I don't have a jack or stands or much space outside my house, anyone have some room on their driveway and a weekend to help me out?

Had to take the DD down and locate the source of driveline vibes. Turns out the front flex disc crapped out. European cars use flex discs instead of UJs on their DSs. There's a center support bearing that usually causes the vibes but it was super smooth, but it'll be replaced as well.
