What did you do with your truck this week?

I would have been right there with you, Steen.

It will be paid off in 2 months and I'm most excited about that![/QUOTE]

Cool, now you'll have more money for upgrades! They can do silver bedliner to. Most of the bedliners you can tint with any ppg color!

All kidding aside. You definately have one of the best equiped FJC's I have seen on the trail. (sorry steve). If I had a FJC I'd be doing alot of the same things you have done.

I've been meaning to ask about this tire carrier. You mounted a wheel hub to the swingout...does that mean the tire spins when it's mounted? I can see someone now, talking cruisers in the driveway over a beer, going to lean against your truck and then...wizzzz, there goes the tire and the guy who thought he'd throw an elbow against it. :p

Finally finished up my tire carrier. Time to drink a cold one.

Played hooky

The Coach, the FZJ80, was the getaway truck today.
Took the 20 ft Sea Lion out so the dog could go swimming.
Jocassee is so nice. Wife packed a killer lunch.
Beach #3 on the GPS.
Should of, didn't, don't care.....we played hooky. It was sweet.
Coach does the pull in comfort and style. A natural with fishing boats
and dogs. It encouraged us to skip. Good truck.

Nice day on the water. The wife is stoked to be going to this lake soon. We went to Hartwell this past weekend and she was asking if Jocassee was like this. I told her not even close.

Jeremy

While Hartwell is not in the same class as Jocassee it is has become a really nice lake. They have done a lot to inprove it over the years. Water clarity is not nearly as bad as it used to be.

I was actually VERY impressed with the clarity. I remember 10 years ago, last time I went, it was all an orange mess. Now it actually looks green/blue out there.

I was mainly refering to the mass of house boats and Scarab racing boats that she didn't like that probably don't frequent Jocassee, in addition to the 30' visibility and waterfalls.:)

Yeah the houseboats really aren't a problem at hartwell. They are slow and have to stay in the main pond. Most of them never leave the dock.

The race boats, jetboats, bass boats, and jet skis are pretty much non existent on Jocassee. Most of the boats are pleasure crafts, pontoon boats and center consoles. The lake doesn't warm up until mid June and doesn't last much past the summer months. It's never been a bathtub which is nice. The waterfalls are really nice. I think the best part about Jocassee is that there really is only one boat landing. That alone keeps the number of the boats on the lake down. It's nice not hearing the droan of motors all day long. It's not a lake where you hurry from point A to point B. Because half the fun is the time spent traveling.

Once you get out of the main body of water the scenery really changes. I love a lake with big rocks in it. Just a totally different experience. I think you will like it a lot.

Sounds good, rigging starts hard and heavy this weekend on the new boat so I can have it ready for the trip. I don't trust people to work on my stuff, so I am building it myself. Bought the hull out the mold with a custom trailer and will be putting EVERYTHING on it myself.

I found those extra hours I was looking for today. Lifted the 100 in about 3 hours by myself with hand tools and only one floor jack. Pics later. Rides great!

Still about two inches less ground clearance than the 62 but the roof line is about the same now.

Looks great Josh... now you just need some dents.

it's a slow process in the middle of summer in the south.

Gotta love gravel drive way engine swaps!!!

hey lazy where is the pics!!!

well, i managed to put the engine/tranny/tc in. Put on the propeller mount then tack in the DIY propeller mounting brackets i made out of 1/4 steel angeled steel. I'll rip the frame off before these things break!!!

And then i flipped drive shafts. Front to rear, rear to front. Then i blocked the tranny/t/c in place and pulled the block back out until i get my flywheel in.

Then i had to repair a hard brake line i damaged installing the engine.

block hugger headers will be in later this week along with flywheel and new goose neck.

I still need to get a starter, will try advanced for one or autozone...maybe even orileys.

Looks like i got a good fitment. I'll have to mod the SBC adapter brackets.

Once i get the engine in and set i have to cut holes in the hump for all 3 of my shifters and then cut my pto drive shaft down about 3".

I'll also need a new set of plugs since i snapped two off already.

And i'll need to find some hoses.

I got two people that are supposed to be getting me gauge clusters, hopefully out of the two of them i'll get one that works.

I might have to order new water/oil sensors. I'll find out if these work or not once i bolt them onto the new engine.

If any of you want a much cheaper chevota clutch kit than what AA sells get a clutch from a 1968 Checker marathon. Nice short throw clutch. 11"
