Spent some time trying to chase down some rattles on my 80. I think it's time to get some new motor mounts and body mounts. Perhaps it is my springs too. I replaced my shocks a few weeks ago. I still have a rattle when I hit a bump. And my brake pedal seems to shake or rattle as well when I hit a bump. Annoying. Any suggestions?

I gave Mr. T a few hundred dollars and replaced my radiator. Hunting is getting more expensive.

Lets put the risk of a tyre "exploding" in context with offroading, or even driving at 60mph with oncoming traffic at 60mph, less than 2 feet apart,
and all the other dangers in the world, and I doubt "exploding tyre" would be to the left of a decimal point.....
I know someone who drowned in beer vat once, didnt stop us toasting them at the funeral.

The year of living dangerously :meh:

You're right, I feel silly now...that's an awesome place to mount the spare...

Dunno about exploding but that's a little closer to comfort for me if I were to get into an accident! I'm not sure how I'd feel having a 70-100 lb huge projectile sitting a couple feet behind me.

To the poster of the picture, how is it held in other than a strap?

Funnily enough, the guy who drowned in the beer vat, we tried to rescue him 3 times, but he fought us off bravely.

As for a 70lb item behind you, you do know the back seat is big enough for adults to sit in, with only a seat belt to hold them in ;)

The tyre is mounted to the floor via 6 seat bolt holes to the floor, and supported up the side to the centre on the passenger side with the strap up and over the top to hold it in the frame.

Seems to be a system that works well on many a truck that gets driven hard offroad from DAKAR, to Baja, to the Safari etc etc .

Fixing leaking heater core (in progress)

Thank to BlueCruiser84 for tip with EGR. Managed to remove hose without damage.
That is a horrific thing to see. That can only be the worst repair ever on a 80... PITB

I picked up a pig for my pig roast this weekend :D

turned it into this

We had the fairgrounds for the whole weekend, theres a sand drag strip there, and for some reason my buddy thought his (used to be mine) 4runner could take the 80... he was sadly mistaken, he wasnt even halfway when I was turning around :D

I spent the weekend in SE Oklahoma and SW Arkansas with a bunch of knuckleheads (people, not Harleys) tooling around on mostly dirt roads, camping Friday and Saturday and telling lots of lies.
About half of the ten total vehicles, six 80s, two Tacos and two jeeps.

My "tent":

"Cruise Director Tulip" was trying out a trailer, but still had his RTT mounted. We were ready for an influx of refugees, I guess.

The jury is still out on this "mod", but I made the commitment and cut the holes...

May opt for a Subie scoop at some point but could't find one at a reasonable price...

Found this at Ross... Ya Ross... Never know what you will find, at 15bucks figured I'd give it a try.

Hoping this will direct "cool" air down the back of the engine and down the pass side exhaust floorboard.

Uncle's BJ had a pucker factor after picking an odd line.

I finally tried hauling a trailer with my 4x4 Labs. Towed the Heep with no issues.

I made a mess of my truck my getting a DC shaft for a steal and being ignorant of pinion angles. Weeeeeeeee!!!!

I finally got round to fitting a couple of BlueSea fuseboxes, one in the engine bay and one in the rear right storage hole.

The engine bay one was overdue as the power outlet was very crowded with the heavy gauge wire I used for the horn and driving lights.

Started out botching up a bracket from a parts bin but it clearly isn't up to the job and makes the inboard terminals awkward to access.

I went and grabbed some aluminium flat bar and moved the whole thing a little lower and a little further from the right hand battery box. This made me happier.

Electricity is not my favourite and I bet this all makes the decent electricians cry but it all works and there is a 70A fuse for each fusebox bolted to the rear of the battery box.
