Yep, my trd, wheels have 1 1/2" spacers. Been over a year now and rock solid. That said I still might go to an aftermarket wheel and no spacer eventually

I don't like spacers myself. That's why I dropped the fjc steelies / spacers, despite liking them

Need help, I can't help it, It's really bad, I'm completely submerged in this... I'm loosing sleep & constantly carry my phone around reading 80 series subjects & build threads on the mud forum. Is this what they call "The Addiction"?

Thanks to @baldilocks I have aquired a set of the MAF drop brackets that I have been writing talking about. They where very simple to put on with a we bit of filing they slid right in. The 1st thing I noticed is they measured out to a 2.5" drop rather than the assumed 2" by the name of them. Once on the road I noticed a big difference in road manners. It's a more relaxing feel & Lexi turns much better. The rear seems to follow the turn rather than want to lift up & come overy the top. A stiffer sway bar in the rear I think would help this also.
That was the bonus. Now for the main reason I got these was to hopefully increase down travel, well I hit a bit of a round block that will be easily fix in a short manner. As for now I'm enjoying the benefit of a better handling DD.
Oh the road block... well, it seems that I will be needing to remove a bit of metal restricting the rotational twisting movement of the control arm. The pics will say the rest.

They definitely don't hang down as bad as the 3" MAF brackets. I'm still using my yellow caster bushings.

The brackets look a lot better on your 80 than they did under my work bench! Glad they are working out.

degreased my engine (mostly) and changed the oil. Oddly enough, I've had a squeal since I bought the rig a couple months ago, Almost like a bad bearing on a pulley or something. I degreased the engine and it went away. Thoughts?

Possibly something on a belt or pulley?

Most fjc wheels need min 1 inch spacers.. I have some if he wants to keep them

Thanks for the offer but I simply don't like the idea of running spacers. I'll sit on these wheels/tires for a bit while I think about it. I got a pretty good deal on them so I'll pounder the effects of spacers.

Now in the mean time if another mudder don't mind spacers and want the setup(it is a very nice setup) just PM me.

Zero on my truck. @Qball came over to install some FJC wheels with Toyo MTs. He got boned. Mudder sold them to QBall but we soon realized why he was so quick to sell, the backspacing. The new tire is about the same size height wise but an inch narrower with the back spacing sucking the tire into the center of the truck. This reduces his overall footprint by min. one inch. Mucks with his CoG and will rub on the inner fender well unless he goes spacers. Which he isn't. Back off they came and off to Craigslist

@Qball thanks for taking one for the team. Sorry about the lost money/time and frustration.

To keep with the topic on hand, I sprayed some WD40 on the rear bumper (since I don't have any grease...only in what's left of my hair) and it looks really good. Shiny black. Also protecting one exposed and unused spindle.

It's my fault, it was mentioned on the forum but I thought it might work since the tires are 1 inch narrower.

Even with the tires being 1 inch narrower the inside of the tire still moved inward about half an inch. Had it simply stay the same I would probably just keep them on as they do look great. Now I know why we need spacers on those wheels. I'm not going to completely rule out using spacers but just don't like the idea.

A little bit of time was wasted but did learn something. I got a good deal on the tires and wheels I shouldn't loose any money.

Beside the pictures Joey posted we didn't stake any more pictures. That's because we mounted one tire and saw the spacing issue, after multiple measurement we realized it's not going to work so we decided to put my original wheel and tire back on to regroup and think about options.

That trail is rated as easy, but it's narrow with some really tight turns and rocky as hell. I'd call it a medium.

I repacked my birfields yesterday. So far this has seemed to take care of the light clunking noise at slow speed when close to full lock steering. My birfield joints were fairly dry so I'm glad I took care of this to prevent future damage. It's not a difficult job for those that haven't done it yet, just time consuming and messy. This is also the time to do brakes and wheel bearings if your truck is due for them as they have to come off to get the axles out.

Finished my front axle service after all my parts came in. Now I have to deal with tire shop breaking front P/S ball joint while attempting alignment. Felt great to drive it for those 7 miles.

Worked on the wayer/methanolinjection, just starting to adjust it. Built a 4 gallon tank for it that also mounts the methanol pump and washer pump.
